Lab Automation Engineer (Jr Software Developer) Location: Vancouver, WA Duration: Direct Hire/Contract to Hire Kelly Technology is currently recruiting for a Jr Software Developer to help program server-side applications with Java, C#, MVC, Java script, HTML, and/or SQL. This role will help to assist Sr. Laboratory Automation Engineers in integrating new and existing lab equipment with the existing Laboratory Information System (LIS).Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Writing server-side applications in C# and SQL for data ingestion and communication with lab equipment.
  • Writing client- and equipment-side scripts to allow for better automation control and user experience.
  • Reading and interpreting user manuals as they relate to integrating equipment with LIS and Laboratory Information Managements Systems (LIMS).
  • Programming and troubleshooting programmable logic controllers (PLCs) as needed.
  • Confer with engineering team to troubleshoot, define program functions, and suggest changes.
  • Familiar with RS232 Serial Device over a TCP/IP Network
  • All other reasonable duties as assigned.
Abilities and Skills Requirements -
  • Ability to provide great service to internal customers.
  • Ability to utilize inductive and deductive reasoning to solve problems.
  • Ability to think critically about problems/solutions.
  • Skilled in complex problem solving.
Knowledge Needed -
  • Programming.
  • General knowledge of engineering in the areas of science and technology, especially with regards to robotics components (e.g. stepper motors, sensors, actuators).
  • Experienced with ASTM/HL7 protocol
  • Experienced with RS232, TCP/IP socket, MLLP programing for connecting LIS and instruments
Experience Requirements -
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or 2+ years coding experience. Preferred Qualifications -
  • Programming experience in any of the following languages: Java, C#, MVC, Java script, HTML, SQL and Windows environments.
