The ideal candidate will have an upbeat and outgoing personality and will possess the desire and ability to appropriately interact with enthusiasm, professionalism, poise, and class with our guests, employees and vendors of Welcome Market Hall (WMH). The operations manager is the “face” of WMH, responsible for managing daily services throughout the WMH and assuring that the wants and needs of guests are consistently exceeded. This individual will interact with our guests, staff and vendors professionally and in keeping with standards set by the WMH handbook. This is a hand on, salaried, overtime exempt position, and reports to the owner.

Responsibilities

  • Provide quality leadership and contribute to the positive atmosphere of WMH and associated operations.

  • Be a genuine “people person”–someone who, by nature, genuinely enjoys making their guests happy. Directly supervise all front of the house service staff.

  • Ensure WMH dining areas, bars and adjacent spaces are ready for service, properly set and any maintenance issues are addressed and resolved.

  • Interview, select, train, supervise, counsel and discipline all service employees in the department.

  • Evaluate and schedule staffing levels for anticipated business.

  • Establish that all scheduled team members are present. Check to see that punch in time matches the scheduled time.

  • Excellent communication that clearly and concisely states concerns to the service team or owners in a prompt manner; focus on resolving issues and teamwork with minimum drama. Assures that effective orientation and training for new team members are planned and implemented. Scheduled professional development activities for experienced staff and establishes on-going training to maintain and improve service standards.

  • Ensure floor staff has performed opening setup duties

  • General knowledge of operating budget, monitors and takes corrective action as necessary to help assure that budget goals are attained.

  • Assures that all standard operating procedures for revenue and cost control are in place and consistently utilized.

  • Ensures that all legal requirements are consistently adhered to including wage and hour and federal, state and/or local laws pertaining to alcoholic beverages.

  • Ensure that all services to members and guests are conducted in a highly professional manner.

  • Ensure a safe working environment and attitude on the part of all employees in areas of responsibilities.

  • Greets guests and oversees actual service on a routine, random basis.

  • Develops beer, cocktail & wine lists. and bottle/glass wine sales promotion programs.

  • Addresses guest complaints and keeps owners aware of appropriate corrective actions taken.

Qualifications

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE; A minimum of 3 -5 years of management experience in a relatable food & beverage operation. Restaurant, private club, resort and/or hospitality experience required.

  • LANGUAGE SKILLS; Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to vendors/suppliers, members, and other employees of WMH.

  • COMPUTER SKILLS; Proficient in point of sale systems, e-mail and internet applications. Working computer competency including, but is not limited to, word processing, spreadsheets, email, and other basic functions is required.

  • CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS; Valid Driver's License, valid Wyoming alcohol and food safety training certificates.

  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS Ability to lift up to 50 pounds / Ability to stand for extended periods of time

  • WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee will be working both inside and outside in moderate to nosy environments.

  • Integrity, good character, honesty and professional honor.

  • Excellent communication skills including proficient oral and written communication are required. English fluency is required. The ability to speak additional languages is a bonus.

  • Evidence of good organizational and time management skills is important.

  • Helps plan marketing promotion activities for WMH.

  • Ability to seek out new and innovative ways to meet, and respond to, the needs and demands of an ever changing, diverse membership.

  • Approves all product invoices before submitting to the accounting department.

  • Maintains appearance, upkeep and cleanliness of all food and beverage equipment and facilities.

  • Other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the owners

Please note that the Operations Manager work schedule is determined in accordance with business demands. Welcome Market Hall is open 7 days a week; lunch and dinner, with most activity focused on weekends, evenings and holidays. The Operations Manager must be available to work as needed.
