Position Overview:

HubPages is seeking a Contract Copy Editor with excellent writing/editing skills and online know-how to join our diverse team of editors, moderators, engineers, and product and community advocates for a year-long project (estimate). The Copy Editor will be responsible for fact-checking, copy-editing, and enhancing user-generated web content at a fast pace. The ideal candidate is team-oriented, detail-oriented, creative, and possesses great time-management skills.

Responsibilities

Proofread UGC for spelling, grammar, and punctuation

Follow editorial policies, procedures, and internal/external style guides

Conduct keyword research and optimize content using best SEO practices

Modify and/or attribute media per Creative Commons licensing

Receive and implement feedback from lead editors

Attend weekly meetings and collaborate with team members

Requirements

Ability to copy edit 30+ hours a week

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in the English language

Equivalent education or one year of copy-editing experience preferred

Autonomous time-management skills

Compensation

This is a contract position (30+ hours per week - up to 12 month duration)

Starting at $25 per hour
