We are looking for an Executive Chef to oversee the Meals Department at The Hub on Smith. Are you someone with a passion for food and people? This is an energetic and rewarding position that will provide leadership and coordination of services to create great food, good will and make the dining experience a pleasant experience for older adults and their families! The Hub on Smith is a multi-purpose Senior Center in Sheridan Wyoming.

Essential Job Functions Include:

  • In conjunction with the Registered Dietitian oversees the Meals Program for the organization
  • Inspires and motivates team to explore, develop, and execute an innovative and dynamic food service program for older adults and their families
  • Provides leadership and human resource management of employees to create good food, good company and opportunities for fun, engagement and connection for the people we serve
  • Creates menus and uses recipes for congregate, home delivered meals, salad bar, breakfast, and Grab N Go that are nutritious and delicious
  • Assures food is prepared, cooked and presented well and in accordance with State and Federal Guidelines
  • Assures quality control of food served
  • Provides management and assures effective use of human resources in terms of policies, scheduling and work roles and responsibilities
  • Provides training to employees in culinary skills as needed to accomplish goals
  • Oversees area equipment and supplies
  • Manages area budget and analyses food and labor cost per meal
  • Orders food and supplies
  • Assures policies and procedures are updated and followed
  • Works closely with vendors to assure purchases are affordable
  • Research and facilitates the use of local foods and supplies when possible
  • Completes reports for grants, donations, and finance
  • Assures that meals are being produced and are in compliance with regulations involving health and sanitation
  • Oversees outlying meal sites for quality, efficiency and relationships
  • Ability to spot and resolve problems efficiently
  • Assures food and fun are complimentary, coordinated and communicated
  • Promotes food and fun to the public
  • Oversees building and equipment management
  • Maintains a positive and professional approach with customers, coworkers, and staff they supervise

Physical Demands:

  • Frequently transfers, lifts and positions objects
  • Frequently communicates and exchanges information with others
  • Regularly observes and assesses those served, staff and volunteers

Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Human Resource experience
  • Culinary Food Service experience and training
  • Understanding of nutrition
  • Experience working with older adults and people with disabilities
  • Able to problem solve and remain flexible as circumstances change
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing
  • Initiative and ability to work as a team member
  • Certified Dietary Manager preferred or required in first five years

Minimum Qualifications:

Degree or five years of demonstrated experience in Culinary Foods or Hospitality related field; Strong understanding and experience in nutrition, kitchen management, food preparation, customer service and human resources; Passion for food and fun; Excellent people skills required

Pay: From $44,000.00 per year
