This position performs entry to mid-level work such as preventive maintenance and mechanical repairs on all county vehicles and equipment.

Work Schedule - 4 ten-hour shifts (either Monday-Thursday or Tuesday-Friday)

Annual Uniform Allowance = $150.00

Monthly Tool Allowance = $100.00

Generally, the hiring range is $43,011-$53,764. Qualifications, education and experience as it relates to the position will be taken into consideration when determining hiring salary.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (The following examples are illustrative only and are not intended to be all inclusive.)

Change lubricants, filters and performs other preventive maintenance functions as necessary. Performs safety inspections on any/all County equipment.

General repairs on automotive and heavy construction equipment to include the repair of gasoline and diesel engines, repair of electrical systems including lights, repair of hydraulic systems, and repair/adjustment to drive train and brake systems.

Perform diagnostic road tests. Travel to various locations for tire maintenance, repair work, drop-off and pick-up of vehicles, parts and/or delivery of fluids and equipment.

Makes repairs to snow and ice equipment

Inspects defective and malfunctioning equipment and performs diagnostic tests using diagnostic software and other equipment as required.

Performs service calls in the field.

Performs duties and training in both the light-duty and heavy-duty shops.

On-Call during snow season to support the operations of snow removal fleet and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

Repairs and replaces tires on all equipment.

Other duties may be assigned as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or GED equivalent, with (2) two years of automotive/diesel mechanical experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS:

Must possess a valid Colorado Driver’s License upon hire, with complying insurance. Review of motor vehicle record is required at time of hire and periodically throughout employment.

A valid State of Colorado Commercial Driver’s License and the ability to obtain a Class A license with no “E” restriction as defined by the DOT within 180 days of hire.

This position requires successful completion of a criminal background check including fingerprinting through a national database.
