Job Description

Reporting to the Resources Manager, the Referral Specialist will support the Education and Resources Department, at the National Alliance for Eating Disorders. The Referral Specialist will be the first point of contact for incoming referral inquiries, and will help individuals and families connect to eating disorder treatment nationwide. At The Alliance, we strive to provide the highest quality of service to all we help; which includes, staffing our referral line with clinicians who are experienced in treating eating disorders. The position requires the candidate to be a licensed or provisionally licensed clinician with strong interpersonal skills and positive attitude, ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team, follow specific protocols and procedures, problem-solve, multi-task, confidentially handle crisis situations, and identify community needs and resources (as they relate to the referral program and services). Knowledge of computer systems, internet and software applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel are essential to this position. This position is a 9 AM to 5:30 PM Monday through Friday on-site role at The Alliance headquarters.

Duties and Responsibilities

●Provide phone, in-person, email, and social media support, referrals (for treatment at all levels of care), and psychoeducation to individuals with eating disorders and their loved ones

●Provide crisis intervention to callers if appropriate, according to established protocols

● Adocate for individuals having trouble or lacking the ability needed to make effective contact with agencies, programs, and services

● Work toward achieving program quality assurance goals, including follow up calls

●Oversee and assist in maintaining the Direct Referral Inquiry tracker

● Track and maintain WebAuthor referral database platform

● Work alongside Resources Manager to expand treatment providers in findEDhelp.com

● Provide program support to the clinical team and participate in staff training activities

● Maintain quality assurance of helpline services and programmatic implementation

● Provide analytics and feedback on productivity and quality results.

● Attend trainings and meetings, as required

● Attend support groups on a regular basis to learn about subject matter and keep skills up to date

●Administrative functions as they relate to the performance of required duties

Qualifications

Required

  • Master’s degree in a psychology-related field
  • Mental health professional
  • Strong organizational skills, specific to creating and keeping deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Passion for mental health, advocacy, and eating disorders awareness
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and general database management
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Valid driver’s license and ability and willingness to travel (locally and nationally)

Preferred

  • Prior experience in the eating disorder field
  • License (PsyD, Ph.D., LMHC, LMFT, LCSW, LPC, RD/LDN).
  • A background in Continuing Education management
  • The ability to communicate in English and Spanish
  • Prior management experience
  • Bilingual – Spanish Speaking
