POSITION PURPOSE

Seeking a flexible, multi-skilled person who is looking for an opportunity to work with youth in a

wholistic and intentional community. The purpose of this position is to provide support and

leadership for the Drop-in Center and Street Outreach programs in alignment with New Day

principles, values and approaches.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

(IN PRIORITY ORDER)

The following list of duties or tasks is not intended to be complete but to represent some of the tasks required under

each of the major responsibilities.

Employee Supervision and Support

· Provide direct supervision and hire drop-in center and street outreach staff.

· Provide supervision and support to staff members.

· Train all new staff and provide ongoing training opportunities for all staff.

· Address discipline issues as they arise and actively participate in all decisions about performance

improvement plans, terminations, etc.

· All other duties as required to ensure effective and smooth operation of the programs.

Departmental and Programmatic Support

· Model, coach and develop practice using the core values and approaches of New Day: Positive Youth

Development, The Nurtured Heart Approach, Trauma Informed Care and Wraparound.

· Maintain high level of awareness of the culture and climate within the Drop-in Center and work with the

Director and program staff to ensure core principles are being lived and honored at all times.

· Work with Director to implement and develop policies and procedures and other program support

documentation for the Drop-in Center and Street Outreach programs, as necessary.

· Work with Director to track data and develop reports for funders and New Day executive leadership

team.

· Complete all grant reports and ensure accurate and timely submission.

· Develop a robust program design for Street Outreach and Drop-in Center

· Participate in New Day’s Leadership team and represent New Day as a leader in the community and

within the agency.

Agency and Community Leadership

· Represent the agency with community government entities.

· Under the supervision of the Director, assist in building and maintaining relationships with key

stakeholders: community social service providers, juvenile justice entities, local businesses, collaborative

partners, local schools, etc.

· Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE

Education Level/ Years of Related Work Experience:

(minimum & preferred educational requirements necessary to perform this job successfully)

· Bachelor’s degree in social services, education or other related field

· Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience.

· 3-5 years of experience working with youth and adults that have experienced homelessness, trauma,

and/or system involvement, required.

· 2-3 years’ experience in program development and implementation required.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

Required Preferred

Knowledge of community resources and experienced in providing referral services clients

Strong leadership, mentoring and coaching skills

Ability to identify quality support strategies

Excellent oral communication skills reflecting solid customer service both in-person and via the telephone

Ability to relate well in cross-cultural environments

Ability to use time effectively

Ability to focus on details;

Ability to adapt to shifting priorities

Ability to position and promote opportunities

Proficiency in technical areas such as Microsoft Office; including Word, Outlook, Access and Excel.

Bilingual, English and Spanish (Preferred)

Ability and willingness to travel locally and regionally to meet agency needs

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Must be able to pass comprehensive criminal, sexual offender, MVD background checks. Must have car, valid driver’s license, and maintain state required automobile insurance minimums.
