Job Summary This position is the lead subject matter expert

responsible for developing, maintaining, and monitoring the Epic database and

associated programming. Works with junior analysts and experts in Epic systems support

to build, configure, deploy, implement, operate, support, and maintain the

database of the highly complex, fast-growing Epic environment. The goal of the

position is to ensure the reliability, security, and performance of numerous

environments within the system, including Production, Development, Test, and

Training environments. Builds systems, secures them, operates them, translates

functional requirements into technical ones, participates as an integral member

of a highly skilled team, and solves problems. This position is also

responsible for developing strategy around system maintenance; updates as well

as mentors other database administrators on best practices associated with

cache. Essential Functions

Performs installations, upgrades, patching, and

database configurations for Cach and Epic, and maintains proper documentation

throughout the process

Develops strategy and maintenance plan for

production and non-production environments (Backup, logs, server monitoring,

daily tasks and work with infrastructure server team)

Reviews and refines Change control processes to

introduce best practice

Develops and implements project plan to track

toward target milestones for go-live regions

Develops strategy for implementing system

updates for IUs and SUs and system downtime

Proactively monitors and troubleshoots any

unusual system behavior and performance concerns

Assists in developing and maintaining the OS,

Cach, and Epic security models

Performs backup, restores, and refreshes of

Epic

Performs print device setup, testing, and

troubleshooting

Maintains system decision, setup, and

configuration documentation

Supports the data flow from Cach installations

and Epic environments

Provides 24x7 support as needed

Communicates environment activities (downtimes,

upgrades, patches, refreshes) to all relevant parties

Educates junior Cache DBAs on things to do on a daily-basis, things not to

do and Cache tasks to watch out during go-live

Provides go-live and post go-live support

Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Five (5) years experience, with 3 years

experience of Epic production Cache in Unix required

Some experience with Linux/Unix operating

systems and tools in a Unix environment required

Cache DBA Certification in one of the latest

two Cache versions required

Understanding of high availability, database

failover models, hardware architectures, SAN administration, and scripting,

print management required

Experience with UNIX, LINUX, HP-UX required

Experience with determining and documenting

current workflows and designing future workflows to facilitate support required

Good knowledge of broad-based infrastructure

Education must be in Computer Science,

Mathematics, or other technical field required

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively

in spoken and written English required

Significant teaming and collaboration required

Epic Cach System Manager Training and

Certification preferred

Previous experience in a healthcare environment

preferred

Project management experience preferred

Experience with EMRx, HIM, NextGen, Epic or

other clinical applications preferred
