Click on "Learn more about this agency" button below to view Eligibilities being considered and other IMPORTANT information.ResponsibilitiesThe primary purpose of this position is to serve as an supervisor to direct aircraft maintenance activities in the accomplishment of unit flying schedules, maintenance plans, equipment, facilities on a week-to-week or month-to-month basis.Performs personnel management responsibilities also serves as technical advisor to flight chief/maintenance supervisor in the resolution of production problems.Ensures education in, compliance with, and practice of security directives, good safety, and health habits in all work areas.Performs administrative function also executes specific disaster control duties including provisions of Emergency War Orders and contingency plans.Manages the aircraft maintenance production effort by assigning priorities of work necessary to accomplish flying schedules and maintenance plans.RequirementsConditions of EmploymentQualificationsApplicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C-WG-8800 Aircraft Overhaul Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is the ability to Supervise as an Aircraft Overhaul Supervisor WS-8801-10 JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of supply procedures, painting, sheet metal, publication order system, tool, equipment and material accounting, security, documentation procedures, safety regulations and procedures. Extensive knowledge of Air Force TO Form documentation requirements. Knowledge and practical application of MIS (e.g. CAMS, GO-81) programs. 2. Knowledge of the theory, operation, and integration of all mechanical, pneudraulic, electrical, electronic, and other operating systems of a variety of aircraft including startup/shutdown for aircraft systems, comprehensive knowledge of assigned weapon systems including airframes, aircraft systems, and the interrelationships among systems and aircraft power plants, needed to make various operational checks and verify established performance limits. Knowledge of aircraft flying hour and maintenance planning cycles, documentation, and communication necessary to execute plans. 3. Skill in directing aircraft generation/evacuation processes. Skill in determining aircraft condition and advising supervision of workload changes. Skill in using and maintaining a variety of hand and power tools, equipment, and precision measuring and/or test equipment. 4. Skill in troubleshooting, inspecting, and/or tracing hard-to-locate defects or problems. 5. Ability to read and interpret instructions, specifications, blueprints, and technical orders, and to evaluate compliance, adequacy of repair actions, and proper installation of parts and modifications. Ability to manage personnel and equipment resources to effect flying and maintenance programs. Ability to assign work priorities to accomplish scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities. Ability to execute disaster control and emergency war order/contingency plans. 6. Ability to plan and organize work assignments to include determining resources required to accomplish mission and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Moderate carrying (15-44 lbs). Hours of straight pulling are 1 hour per week. Hours of pushing is 1 hour per week. Reaching above shoulder. Use of fingers. Both hands required. Hours of walking are 4 hours per week. Hours of standing are 10 hours per week. Hours of crawling are 1 hour per week. Hours of kneeling are 1 hour per week Hours of repeated bending are 3 hours per week. Climbing, use of legs and arms. Both legs required. Operation of crane, truck, tractor, or motor vehicle may be required. Ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously. Near vision correctable at 13 inches to 16 inches to Jaeger 1 to 4. Far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and 20/40 in the other. Both eyes required. Depth perception. Ability to distinguish basic colors. Hearing (without aid). PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.
