SummaryThis position will be assigned to the JBSA Fort Sam Houston Child Development Center. This is a regular part-time category position with guaranteed 20 hours per week, may work up to 40 hrs/week. Employees appointed to a regular category position are eligible for benefits.Responsibilities

The Encourages participant interest and establishes a program setting that promotes positive child and youth interactions with other children, youth and adults.

Works with trainer and supervisor to implement activities and special events that meet the physical, social, emotional and cognitive needs of children and youth.

Supervises children and youth ranging in age from 6 weeks to 18 years during daily schedule of indoor and outdoor activities, on field trips, outings and special events.

Serves as a team leader for program staff with responsibility for the operation and program in accordance with applicable regulations in one or more child and youth programs.

Prepares and implements program options for children and youth with special requirements.

Interacts with children and youth using approved child guidance and youth development techniques.

Ensures children and youth (as applicable) depart with an authorized person according to written parental instruction.

Must have completed an Associate of Arts degree in early childhood education, youth development, or related fields or have a Child Development Associate credential or a Youth Development credential.EducationSome federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position DOES NOT allow for education substitution. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
