Currently seeking an On-Site Transportation - Operations Manager with expertise in the automotive industry and or transportation experience such as auto auctions, car rental or fleet management. The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and staffing a group of hourly driving employees plus Lead Van Drivers.

Job Responsibilities:

Employee engagement, hiring, management and development.

Drive key performance indicators such as operational efficiency and a high level of productivity pertaining to dispatch, fleet vehicle maintenance, scheduling of vehicle pick-up and deliveries.

Development and grow relationships with auto auction management team as well as automotive dealerships.

Grow market share in drive-away service and on-site staffing.

Highly effective in scheduling employees and managing resources.

Plan, develop and implement transportation policies and goals.

Maintain active and visible role with drive team employees to ensure high quality service and performance.

Maintain a thorough understanding of all areas of local drive away transportation business to ensure operational efficiency and economy.

Maintain ongoing awareness of automotive market conditions and trends to ensure effective reaction to market changes.

Review and monitor weekly financials, develop and communicate goals to regional management and direct reports.

Review, monitor and approve all accounts payable relating to the operation.

Foster an environment where safety is paramount. Ensuring all training and safety measures are implemented and monitored regularly.

Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

Extensive knowledge of the Kalamazoo area for transportation purposes

2-4 years’ experience in managing a stand-alone operation in the automotive or logistics field

2-4 years’ experience in transportation industry preferably vehicle transport

Experience managing teams of drivers

Strong computer skills

Strong logistical and analytical skills

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Good problem-solving and organizational skills

Bilingual helpful but not required

Must have a valid driver’s license, pass a background and drug screen

Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time, ability to lift up to 30 lbs.

Ability to enter and exit vehicles repeatedly

20+ years of age

Work Schedule:

Day Shift. Monday through Friday, Saturdays when needed.

Salary: $40,000 base plus monthly bonus. We offer a comprehensive benefit package including medical, dental, vision and 401k upon eligibility.
