This position directs and manages all IT functions and services for the Cal Poly Corporation (Corporation). It is the top IT position in the organization and as such is a key member of the Corporation leadership team, providing critical leadership and direction for the IT team, and broad professional level IT knowledge and expertise to the organization overall. The position reports directly to and receives general direction from Associate Executive Director and assists the Associate Executive Director in support of the overall mission, strategic direction and objectives of the Corporation.

The position develops, leads and facilitates information management, technology infrastructure, network communications, application development, user support, stays abreast of emerging technologies and provides necessary project management over IT related system implementations and upgrades. The position identifies and recommends IT policies and initiatives, enterprise system objectives and long range planning in support of the Corporation’s strategic direction and planning. The Director of IT is the primary liaison with university ITS personnel and communicates Corporation priorities, policies and processes in support of campus wide initiatives and priorities.

Minimum Qualifications:

-Graduation from a four-year college or university, with a specialization in the field of information systems, business administration, or related field.

-Equivalent of 7 years of progressively responsible experience in information systems design, programming and computer operations, including three years in a management assignment.

-Thorough knowledge of employee supervision and management, including hiring, training, development, evaluation, and disciplinary actions.

-Thorough knowledge of current computer industry technology and practices and information system design, programming, operations and controls.

-Demonstrated hands-on experience developing software in mid-range computing environment.

-Demonstrated experience in the design, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and administration of a personal computer network system. Demonstrated experience with Local Area Networking.

-Demonstrated thorough knowledge of principles, practices, and trends of Information Systems, including management of technical personnel, organization, planning, cost/benefit analysis; budgeting and project management, and evaluation. Must have a current knowledge of enabling technologies in Information Systems.

-Excellent understanding of all SaaS platforms and Cloud computing technologies.
