MARKETING AND SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGER

Job Description

The Marketing and Social Media Manager is responsible for crafting and communicating the overall public image and messaging of the agency. This individual will report to the Vice President of Development and Communications and is integral to promoting the mission, vision and brand of Jewish Family Services and JFS Housing.

AGENCY MISSION:

The Mission of Jewish Family Services is to provide supportive services that will strengthen families, children and individuals throughout the life cycle within the context of their unique needs and traditions.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement a marketing and communications strategic plan to enhance and promote the organization's image among the general public and the Jewish community. Efforts should advance increasing overall public awareness, donor and volunteer engagement and utilization of JFS program and services.
  • Staff the Marketing and Communications work group and lead strategic plan objectives.
  • Participate in community outreach and engagement activities such as speaking engagements, tours, open houses, resource fairs and other special events.
  • Oversee the development, distribution and maintenance of all print and electronic collateral materials including agency newsletter, annual report, JFS branded promotional items, advertising, program promotional materials, fundraising materials, client success stories, special event invitations, programs and scripting.
  • Develop and manage website content and ensure overall website consistency; ensure that all information is current, accurate and relevant.
  • Develop and manage television and radio advertising to promote the agency, programs and special events.
  • Monitor and manage JFS’s presence on all social media platforms.
  • Develop press releases and advance stories about Jewish Family Services to generate positive press for the agency. Build and maintain positive relationships and contacts with media professionals. Maintain a press calendar of all PR, media and communications events to inform other departments and board of all PR activities, marketing and advertising. Maintain archives of all press generated regarding JFS. Serve as a voice of the agency and handle media calls, refer to leadership and others as appropriate.
  • Work with program staff to develop an image library and archiving system. Ensuring proper release of information and permissions for use of photos and videos to support production of marketing objectives.
  • Oversee the development, distribution and maintenance of all video promotional pieces including proper licensing of music, stock images and other proprietary information.
  • Work closely with the Vice President for Development and Communications on any crisis communications.
  • Develop and implement procedures to test effectiveness of marketing and communications initiatives. Develop and monitor all applicable budgets for marketing, communications, publications and projects.

  • Accepts and performs other duties and responsibilities as determined by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism or related field plus a minimum of 4 years’ progressively responsible experience in a non-profit environment.
  • Expertise with development, implementation, and evaluation of comprehensive strategic marketing and communications plans to meet organizational objectives
  • Familiarity with best practices in marketing techniques and knowledge of trends.
  • Strong project management skills and proficiency in managing multiple priorities and successfully navigating deadlines while adhering to budgets.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong, effective working relationships across all levels of leadership, staff and volunteers.
  • Exceptional presentation and communication (oral and written)skills.
  • WordPress, Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Design Elements, Publisher and Constant Contact knowledge required.

  • Ability to work well under pressure, with accuracy, meets deadlines, and maintains a high level of detail.
  • Excellent time management and project management skills.
  • Self-starter capable of networking and interacting with groups and individuals

Miscellaneous:

  • Part-time position, Monday –Friday office hours with no travel requirements.
  • Evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Knowledge, understanding, and/or willingness to learn Jewish culture and traditions, and the capacity to incorporate Jewish programming as necessary. .

Job Type: Part-time

Salary: $18.00 to $19.00 /hour

Experience:

  • Social Media Marketing in Non-Profit Environment: 4 years (Preferred)
