Position SummaryReporting to the Associate Dean of the Berick Center for Student Advising (CSA), and the Assistant Dean of the Academic Success Programs (ASP), the Program Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of yearly programs for the First in Family (FIF) Programs and the Academic Success Programs (ASP), as well as supporting Arthur O. Eve Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP) students across all class years in Columbia College and Columbia Engineering. The position requires precision and attention to detail in managing budgets and maintaining records and databases. It requires good communication skills, initiative and creativity in proposing new programs for both FIF and ASP. The position includes making suggestions for events with full and extensive budgets, maintaining event files, assisting with assessment and evaluation, maintaining databases, monitoring budgets and account activity, liaising with college and university offices, and playing a key role in promoting FIF and ASP events.Responsibilities

Programming: the candidate plays a key role in implementing programming initiatives for both FIF and ASP. The candidate will support and facilitate the programming efforts of the Academic Success Program, such as the Summer Bridge Program, peer mentoring program, seminar series, and class year programming. He or she will coordinate the yearly programs of FIF including the First-Year Seminar as well as other workshops and events, both on- and off-campus. He/she will collaborate with FIF and ASP staff to prepare and present workshops designed specifically for FIF, HEOP, and NOP students. He/she will create and maintain ASP and FIF listservs, provide event and publicity support, including the management of communications about events, public relations, publications, updating social media content, and other forms of outreach to students and the community at large. He/she will work closely with local vendors and college and university offices. Duties include planning, logistics, room scheduling, budget oversight and marketing/communication of all relevant programs. He/she will work on other CSA initiatives as needed and will also assist in the planning and implementation of programs with various partner offices as needed.

Budgets: The Program Coordinator will work closely with the Associate Dean of the CSA and the Assistant Dean of ASP and other key staff members in the management of FIF and ASP programming budgets. He/she will track spending and work closely with financial processors in the College to ensure timely submission of invoices. The Program Coordinator will provide per-event budgets, with analysis of potential improvement for the coming year. He/ she will assist in the preparation and completion of budgets and annual reports for HEOP. He/she will work with the Associate Dean and Assistant Dean to monitor the budget for the order any materials needed for program events, specifically the FIF First Year Seminar and the Summer Bridge Program.

Program Assessment and Reporting : Collects and tracks data needed for the HEOP Annual Reports and Budget Report. Coordinates program evaluations for ASP Summer Bridge Program, Technology Initiative, FiF First Year Seminar, and other programs as needed.

Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.

Minimum two years of relevant experience required.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.

Ability to analyze event success, professionalism in handling a wide range of communication-oriented tasks, and attention to detail essential, as is a capacity to work independently, or on a team, on multiple projects and to prioritize appropriately.

Computer proficiency required.
