The Purchasing Agent is responsible to select and manage vendors and procure materials and services. Successes of the position are measured via the following key indicators:

Working safely and meeting all environmental standards of customer, OSHA, and employer

Selecting vendors to ensure the best price with delivery in the required time frame

Managing the procurement process to ensure that costs of purchased materials and services are consistent with project budgets

Completing and submitting paperwork efficiently and accurately

Position Responsibilities:

Comply with all customer and company policies, work, and safety rules

Assist with vendor selection, product standardization, cost control, delivery requirements, and available vendor warranties

Assist with selection of vendors with cost-effective products that meet specifications, quality standards, delivery dates, and customer service requirements

Provide on-going support to project management, production, and engineering

Assist in the development of the inventory management and control systems

Input data into the various systems of MAS90

Coordinate international shipments and associated paperwork; coordinate shipments of all motor freight to and from inland vendors and customers

Expedite purchase orders via regular contact with vendors

Follow up on all submittals to and from vendors

Meet with vendors as necessary

Work closely with Accounting and Project Management to monitor compliance with budgets

Work with Finance and Production to develop and manage a process to check actual costs against estimate in order to drive continuous cost savings and reduction

Participate in meetings and special projects as required

Assist management in implementing business plans as required

Attend training programs as required

Work to keep computer skills current

Exercise multi-tasking skills

Communicate with coworkers as needed and supervisor(s) to receive instructions and coordinate activities

Be punctual and properly prepared to work

Follow other job-related instructions and perform other tasks as requested

Skills and Qualifications:

3+ years experience as a buyer or purchasing agent

Good computer skills

Excellent communication skills—verbal and written

Basic knowledge of contract legal terms and requirements
