Life coach / attendant for 20 yo special needs male (Harker Heights)

Life coach / attendant for 20 yo special needs male $11.65/hr

Schedule: School year 4-9p (Wed/Thurs), 1 Sunday a month 10a-9p

Weekend shifts and OUT OF SCHOOL days 8-12 hr ea.

Also needed to cover call-outs from other caregivers, Must me available during daytime hours for weeekends/school holidays/summer. You must be able to work a flexible schedule. This is a long-term position, most of our caregivers stay 1+ years.

Must enjoy and participate in games, YMCA, running, swimming, hiking, playing pool, and "shooting hoops". You will be outdoors for a good portion of each day. You will be interacting NOT just observing, this is not a babysitting job!

Some skills the attendant will teach/assist or be responsible for:

Directing him with his cooking, laundry, maintaining his bed and bathroom, chores, homework assistance. Age appropriate money skills (like that of a 10-year-old), social skills, diet, and life-skills like meal planning and grocery shopping. He does not read or write over a first grade level, you will be responsible for taking the initiative to find fun ways to work on life skills.

Diagnosis: Autism Spectrum Disorder, Cognitive Disabilities, Visual Impairment (low vision)

Requirements: age 21-35, know how to swim, pass background check/ drug test, reliable transportation. Must have experience with the special needs population (not the same as elderly or daycare).

Additional Requirements:

High school graduate

Verifiable experience with special needs persons

Non-smoker

Comfortable with pets we have 3 medium size indoor dogs

Reliable transportation, you will pick him up from school

Pass background and drug test

Paid every 2 weeks via direct deposit or on money card from a state waiver program.
