Senior Cost Accountant

We have an immediate opening for a Senior Cost Accountant in our Green River, Wyoming accounting and finance department. This position will be responsible for performing cost analyses, preparing budget reports, performing month-end cost accounting close, reconciling and analyzing general ledger production accounts.

Responsibilities

· Develop standard costs for materials and labor

· Monitor cost variances

· Analyze production costs

· Prepare periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs

· Analyze factors affecting variable and fixed costs per ton

· Prepare periodic budgets and forecasts

· Maintain cost accounting system and ledger

· Reconcile and analyze inventory accounts

· Assist in month-end cost accounting close

Requirements

· Proven work experience as a cost accountant, financial analyst or similar role

· Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

· Computer literacy – strong Microsoft Excel skills, proficiency with Word and PowerPoint

· Integrity, with an ability to properly handle confidential information

· Strong time management skills

· High level of accuracy and attention to details

· Five (5) to ten (10) years of related work experience in cost accounting, financial analysis or similar role.

Preferences

· Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation

· Previous mining or manufacturing industry experience

· Master’s degree in business administration (MBA)

· Previous experience with SAP or similar enterprise management software system

· Stable work history
