ELECTRICAL DESIGNER (NORMAN)

Electrical Intern

Allen Consulting, Inc is looking for an Intern or full time Electrical Design Engineer for our office in Norman, Oklahoma. We provide design and consulting services for a broad range of projects both local and out of state. We are searching for a new entry level electrical design engineer to help keep up with our growing workload. We need full time help, but part time is acceptable for students who are close to finishing an engineering degree.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The successful candidate will take part in the following activities under the supervision of electrical engineer:

Preparation of superior quality electrical construction documents including drawings, specifications, and reports for buildings in healthcare, educational, retail, restaurant, office, multifamily residential, and institutional market sectors

Design power, lighting, fire alarm, and telecommunications plans including all associated circuitry, details, one line diagrams, and specifications

Perform photometric calculations, load calculations, fault current, and any other calculations required to support electrical design

Review electrical documents for areas of conflict with all building systems

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Close coordination with the client and the entire design team, including owners, architects, contractors, members of other disciplines, and internal support staff to ensure the design is consistent with the client's vision, to ensure a fully coordinated interdisciplinary design, and to ensure the design schedule is maintained

Work closely with equipment vendors and manufacturers' representatives for selection and specification of appropriate equipment

Play an active role in project meetings with clients and colleagues

Become competent with design software such as AutoCAD and Revit (no previous skills required)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Have completed 3-4 years towards ABET-accredited degree in Electrical Engineering. A focus in power systems is helpful, but not critical

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Exceptional organizational skills with ability to effectively prioritize multiple tasks

Capable of grasping and retaining electrical design principles and working independently

Desire to work in a fast-paced team environment to complete tasks accurately and efficiently

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Have desire to obtain Engineer-Intern (EI) and/or Professional Engineer (PE) licenses in Electrical Engineering

Self-starter requiring minimal supervision
