Concrete Finisher (Eugene)

The Concrete Finisher is a skilled trades person that self-performs works of the Concrete Division. Regional travel required. Works closely with job site Superintendent and Foreman.

SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

All aspects of concrete structures including foundations, elevated formwork cycles, cranes, layout and controls, placing, consolidating and finishing concrete best practices.

Must understand & implement basic concrete principles such as concrete mix designs, admixtures, curing, cold and hot weather procedures for concrete placing and finishing, formwork systems, etc.

Adherence to safety standards. Ensures trade and subcontractor site safety compliance with company standards and all applicable safety codes and regulations.

Smooth out concrete in segments to ensure the concrete poured is level.

Arrange the concrete forms, spread concrete, smooth high spots and fill depressions, wash away excess concrete.

Make concrete beams, columns, and panels.

Use wood or plastic forms to shape the concrete and hold it until it’s set.

Use machines that vibrate concrete to fill air pockets.

Use groovers and hand trowels to spread concrete.

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/ABILITIES REQUIRED

Two years or more experience in commercial concrete construction with a proven track record of increased oversight and responsibility.

Operate with integrity and be a part of a team that diverse levels of skill sets, provide on the job training and mentoring while ensuring quality and accountability.

Ability to read, estimate, and construct concrete structures in accordance with construction drawings, specifications and apply best practices in the field.

Understand Construction Project Scheduling, Estimating, Material Procurement and Site Construction

Driver’s license, pass drug screening, First Aid/CPR, ability to travel, when required. Understand, communicate and adhere to all Safety Regulations at all times.

Ability to finish concrete at an architectural and structural level.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to lift and move up to 45 lbs. occasionally.

Sitting (or driving) in a normal seated position for extended periods of time.

Reaching by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction.

Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than with whole hand(s) or arm(s), i.e.: using a keyboard.

Communication using the spoken word.

Ability to see within normal parameters.

Ability to hear within normal range.

Ability to move about a construction site including, but not limited to: climbing ladders and scaffold, and walk over uneven terrain.

EDUCATION/CREDENTIALS/LICENSES

High school diploma or equivalent, and

At least two years of progressive experience in commercial construction field labor supervision.

10 hour OSHA training

Valid driver’s license and reasonable driving record

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee:

regularly works in outside weather conditions

frequently works near moving mechanical parts and loud noise level

frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions and vibration

occasionally works in high, precarious places

occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risks of electrical shock

adheres to all safety standards at all times
