About the Role

The Real Estate Closer will report to the Real Estate Manager. This position will work with processors, underwriters, and pre-funding quality control (compliance) staff to prepare closing instructions, settlements or disclosures, and financial documents. Employee is responsible for closing mortgage loans that move through a processing cycle from origination to processing to underwriting and closing.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepares general ledger ticket when requesting cashiers check for loan funding and responsible for verifying that there are adequate funds to close the loan. Have working knowledge of pertinent dates that affect the loan file including rescission, disbursement, first payment, interest, etc.

  • Verifies accuracy of information entered into mortgage software and cross-checks final documents. Ensures all underwriting conditions have been cleared prior to closing, or notifies underwriter if conditions have not been satisfied prior to release of documents.

  • Ensures that stacking order is consistent and accurate in every file. Verifies lock expiration date is within the time allowed for closing, funding and shipping of a loan package.

  • Understanding loan programs (VA, FHA, Rural Development, Conventional) and their corresponding documents including riders, deeds of trust/mortgages, etc.

  • Prepares loan closing instructions and loan closing documents.

  • Must comply with all company policies and procedures and all applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act and the Office of Foreign Assets Control. Must complete the assigned online training courses and achieve a passing score by due date.

About You

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Three to Five years of similar or related experience preferred, including preparatory experience.

  • Six months mortgage related experience and/or training preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, ABILITY:

  • A high school degree or equivalent

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.

Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation.

Specific lifting abilities required by this job include: Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs

Specific vision abilities required by this job include: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation/inspection of machines and/or using measurement devices at distances close to the eyes.
