Lead Bartender

Position Summary: The Lead Bartender reports to the General Manager/Assistant General Manager and at times the Event Sales Manager, and is responsible for training of bar staff, the successful product development, supervision and operation of The Griffin bar, all venue bars, and special event bars. This individual should be capable of producing a unique beverage program to increase revenue and profitability and enhance the overall customer experience.

Job Duties:

Maximize daily sales and profits by teaching, coaching, and upholding sales and service techniques to ensure a great guest experience.

Maintain appropriate inventory levels of product, small wares, paper products, etc necessary to provide an excellent experience for our guests.

Responsible for managing the opening, running, and closing duties for FOH when Manager is not on duty.

Stay informed about events and be able to relay that information to guest.

Manage daily operations of the bar: organization, service timing, quality product, etc.

Manage organization and cleanliness of bar, no visible dust, dirt, or grime.

Maintain safety and sanitation standards.

Maintain cleanliness and inventory levels of the bar.

Ensure the highest level of quality and empower staff to deliver the highest standard of service.

Handle any guest relations issues appropriately and in a timely manner.

Demonstrate a leadership style that creates a positive working environment.

Foster the behavior, conditions, and environment that yield improved performance.

Keep Manager promptly and fully informed of all significant issues (i.e. problems, unusual matters of significance and positive events).

Delegate according to individual’s knowledge, abilities, skill and outlook.

Emphasize the importance of beer/wine/liquor knowledge to service staff.

Perform in a consistent, timely and effective manner in accordance with established company and department specific policies and procedures.

Support management decisions and direction.

Maintain an outstanding working relationship with all team members and management.

At all times provide a favorable image of The Griffin and MAD in order to foster and enhance public recognition.

Attendance requirements per company policy.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education, Training, and Traits:

Must be 21 years of age or older.

Excellent people skills and an outgoing personality.

Possess a strong commitment to customer service.

Highest ethics in regard to honesty, integrity, and work ethic.

First-hand knowledge of service steps and dining room procedures.

Math and analytical skills to perform necessary inventory, point of sales, pre and post activities.

Work Experience:

Experience with customer service in a hospitality environment.

5 years previous experience as a Bartender required.

Experience with cash handling

Lead/Keyholder experience required

Skills and Abilities:

Ability to work flexible shifts including weekends, holidays, and evenings.

Must be able to move quickly, stand, bend, and lift for periods of up to 4 hours.

Strong communication skills and ability to maintain professionalism with both co-workers and guests.

Possess strong organizational, problem solving, and time management skills.

High level of professionalism.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Ability to remain calm and collected under pressure.

Ability to creatively and effectively solve problems.

Excellent people skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a group.

Ability to maintain the highest levels of confidentiality.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

Must be able to tolerate loud noise levels & busy environments.

Must be willing to work morning, evening, and weekend hours as required.

Must be able to work in a high functioning kitchen for prolonged periods of time.

Good eye/hand coordination.

Must be able to bend and stretch.

Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.

Visual acuity to review written materials is required for this job.
