The Ghiam Laboratory at the Cedars-Sinai Regenerative Medicine Institute is looking for a Research Associate II with an interest in the basic science of stem cells and eye biology to join our dynamic group.For more information about Dr. Ghiam's lab, please visit https://www.cedars-sinai.edu/Research/Research-Labs/Saghizadeh-Ghiam-Lab/Under the direction of the PI, Lab Manager and Project Scientist, you will assist in the conduct of research in the role of microRNAs in normal and diseased corneal epithelial homeostasis, and perform a variety of routine experimental protocols and procedures to support the objectives of one or more laboratory research projects in a specific area of research.Daily duties will include the following:

Performs a variety of routine laboratory tasks and procedures

Keeps accurate and detailed project records of experiments and results

Tissue and organ culture and stem cell isolation

Maintains lab equipment and related records

Transports, processes and logs samples

Maintains computer database with relevant clinical information

Performs lab maintenance duties, including glassware cleaning and sterilization

Maintains stocks of general lab materials, and places orders for lab equipment and supplies

Assists new students and fellows at the laboratory

Assists in the operation of specialized equipment and machinery

Observes and complies with safety standards and procedures

-Imminohitochemistry, Histology and MicroscopyAdditional Information:Schedule flexibility to include evening, weekend and holiday rotation commitment is required.Educational Requirements:BS or BA in a biological science or related fieldExperience:-Minimum two (2) years of laboratory experience, outside of undergraduate school experience-Understanding of general research objectives-Familiar with routine laboratory procedures, experimental protocols, and overall lab organization-Highly motivated and able to work independentlySuperior interpersonal, communication and organization skills and the ability to work across company disciplines and functional units, and computer application experience-Must possess computer skills to include, but not limited to, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word-Ability to simultaneously manage multiple clerical trials, and attention to details-Experience with cell culture and animal work is required; experience with stem cell culture preferred-Familiarity with microscopy, immunohistochemistry and Western blotting preferredCedars-Sinai is an EEO employer.
