Product Configuration Specialist
Trust Automation, a fast growing company in San Luis Obispo which designs, builds and supports control and power management systems for the most demanding defense, semiconductor, industrial automation, green technology and medical applications is seeking an Product Configuration Specialist to join our team in San Luis Obispo, CA.
What’s Cool About This Job:
You will directly contribute to Trust Automation’s success by supporting the objectives of the Manufacturing Engineering Department by transitioning the flow of designed prototypes from Engineering through subsequent phases of volume production for repeatable, lean, and successful product realization. Managing configurations of parts and products using systematic change control to allow efficient downstream procurement, accurate inventory management and collaborative effectivity. Sustaining released product revisions by participating in and facilitating improvement activities for Manufacturing Released products. And providing internal Customer Service by assisting all Trust departments and personnel to maintain our On Time Delivery and overall Quality objectives.
Essential Job Functions:
ERP management of datasets that comprise a part or assembly that is purchased, designed, built and/or tested:
Accurate and timely entry of data into the ERP for configurable items:
Electronic components and PCB assemblies
Cables
Mechanical parts and assemblies
FW and SW releases
Assembly and Test fixtures
Special processes and finishes
Creation and control of Bill of Materials (BOMs)/Production Lists (PLs)
Coordinate with all departments to ensure their respective data is input (Engineering, Quality Assurance, Document Control, Purchasing, Manufacturing)
Integrate support documentation and fixturing into the BOMs to accommodate resource and capacity planning
Work with Purchasing and Engineering to maintain accurate supplier and MFG p/n data for all Approved Manufacturer Listings (AMLs).
Develop and maintain Service Production Lists used for RMAs
Train and enforce the Revision Control ruleset utilized by Engineering to Supply Chain to Manufacturing
Facilitate the drawing and work instruction release processes
Monitor the flow of content changes from redline to release
Gate the release process to ensure the accurate implementation of approved content changes
Drawing types include supplier-provided, Customer Source Control, designed mechanical and electrical parts and assemblies, electronic schematics, etc.
Work instruction types include in-house build/test instructions, field use instructions, contract manufacturer (CM) instructions, etc.
Collaborate with all departments to ensure accurate and timely release of content changes per agreed cut-in (CCB) to prevent delays to production and procurement
Perform and continuously improve the change management process
Participate in Change Control Board (CCB) activities
Develop and update configuration flow and workflow diagrams to visualize and communicate proposed changes
Help or prepare change proposals that result in Document and Engineering Change Orders (DCO and ECO).
Process change management through the Issue System (ISS) and CCB
Support the execution of change activities through change completion/closure
Fulfill Trust’s compliance with AS9100 standards with respect to change control and configuration management
Desired Skills:
ERP data management w.r.t. configuration and revision control
Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Visio
Adobe Illustrator, Acrobat, Reader
Engineering and/or Manufacturing background is preferred, but not required
Solidworks 2020: Modeling, drawings, PDM background is preferred, but not required
Dozuki (web-based electronic Work Instruction platform), preferred but not required.
