The Senior Executive Vice President (SEVP), Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a System-level leadership position, with responsibility for leading the operational transformation of Texas Health’s clinical enterprise to provide consumer-focused health, highly differentiated care that integrates within the larger health and well-being organization. In May 2019, Texas HealthHealthhH changed the organizational and operational structures to better support its evolution to a consumer-centric organization. Working in a high-performing dyadic relationship with the SEVP, Chief Experience Officer, the SEVP, COO is responsible and accountable for achieving and sustaining positive differentiation of consumer-focused clinical care in all segments, channels and subchannels of the core business, based on consumer insights and research, consumer-centric design principles and relevant strategies, tactics and objectives established at the System level.Reporting directly to the health system Chief Executive Officer, the COO is also expected to work in close collaboration, coordination and integration with the Chief Financial Officer, the Chief People Officer and all other senior leaders in the System to advance the ongoing transformation of Texas Health in a nimble, adaptable and action-oriented manner.The COO is responsible for core business operations, deployment, and execution. The direct reports to this position include the Hospital Channel COO, the President/COO of THPG, the Ambulatory/Post-Acute Services and Channel Support Services COO, the CMO and CNO dyad for Reliable Health, and the JOC Integration Officer/Physician Enterprise Alignment Officer. The wholly owned Hospital Presidents report to the Hospital Channel COO.Key Dyad Responsibilities:

Provide effective servant leadership to drive and maintain a high level of strategic, tactical and operational alignment and integration of all officers, managers and care team members who are working in all channels and segments of the core business, with a focus on (1) differentiating Texas Health on the delivery of consumer-focused clinical care, and (2) evolving/transforming the core to ensure consistent, highly reliable performance on quality, experience and affordability.

Responsible for serving as a strategic and tactical thought leader, an effective convener/facilitator of collaborative problem-solving, and a data-driven decision-maker in Texas Health’s decision ecology.

Responsible and accountable for creating and sustaining a culture of high reliability, continuous improvement (with rapid cycles of learning and refinement) and performance excellence through teamwork, interdisciplinary collaboration, proactive risk assessment and risk mitigation, conflict management, change management and highly effective communications and information-sharing at all levels within all COO spans of control.

Responsible for continuously assessing the capacities and capabilities of all channels and clinical programs, reallocating resources as needed to ensure successful execution of strategic priorities.

Overall, responsible and accountable for the successful deployment, execution and sustainability of all system strategies, tactics and action plans that are relevant within all COO spans of control.

Responsible and accountable for the overall clinical, operational and financial performance of all channels.

Responsible for performance and accountability management of all direct reports based on annual operating plans that set forth clear and measurable goals, priorities, objectives and key results that are tightly aligned with system strategies, tactics, action plans, deliverables and specifications.

Responsible for talent development and succession planning across all COO spans of control.

Serve as a role model of Texas Health’s mission, vision, values, leadership behaviors, Promise standards and Code of Business Ethics; practice servant leadership with a focus on collaboration

QualificationsTexas Health seeks an experienced hospital operations leader and executive, with a demonstrated track record of successful leadership experience within a complex healthcare delivery system. This leader will embody and promote the system’s culture and mission, while collaborating with a high performing executive leadership team. This leader will be a results-oriented executive, with a keen focus on engaging teams in providing consistent quality, experience and affordability.In terms of the performance and personal competencies required for the position, we would highlight the following experiences and competencies:Education and Experience:§ A combination of an MHA, MBA or a Master’ degree in another health-related field, together with an advanced clinical degree (MD, DO or DNP), is preferred.§ Current status as a Diplomate or Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives is preferred.§ Progressive administrative/operations senior leadership experience for a minimum of 15 years with at least 10 years in a complex health system and/or integrated delivery network is required.§ Knowledge and understanding of issues facing the delivery of healthcare across the continuum of services.§ Strong understanding and successful track record of optimizing clinical care delivery in both acute care and ambulatory settings.
