Description: The Blades Engineering group designs main rotor, tail rotor, and propulsor blades for Commercial and Military applications. We design elegant solutions that meet or exceed the needs of our customers. In performance, cost, and schedule.We are seeking a talented and motivated engineer to join our team. This position is for an associate engineer who will take direction from a senior blade engineer and will be involved in all phases of the blade life cycle. From conceptual design through detail design. From fabrication through flight testing including supporting aircraft in the field.Working as part of a dynamic integrated engineering team your responsibilities will be: Interacting with engineers in Aerodynamics, Dynamics, Structures, Manufacturing and Test. Translating engineering requirements into conceptual designs. Creating surfaces and 3D geometry into producible models, detail and assembly drawings including Bills of Materials. Working with advanced composite materials and process. Interacting with Operations, Supply Management, Suppliers, and Quality. Engineering support during the in-house fabrication of composite lay-ups and assemblies. Engineering support of suppliers. Will include some travel. Engineering support during fatigue testing at Sikorsky’s test facility Engineering support during flight testing including Wind tunnel testing. Will include some travel.The candidate is expected to have strong oral and written communication skills.Domestic and some international travel for brief and extended periods may be required to perform this work. Candidates should have strong "hands on" mechanical aptitude.Basic Qualifications:Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education.Some experience with CATIA V5 and/or 3DX, or equivalent CAD software.Desired Skills: Course work in component design Course work in a group design project Course work CAD software and drawing creation Ability to interpret requirements Ability to perform trade studies and conceptual designBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:job.QualificationsLockheed Martin is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
