34674BRJob Title:MGR ENGINEERING 3Department/Cost Center:E92: Model Based EngineerExternal Job Description:This position is responsible for leading the development and adoption of Model Based Engineering (MBE) practices at Newport News Shipbuilding. MBE is an approach to product development, manufacturing, and lifecycle support that uses a digital model to drive all engineering activities. As NNS transforms digitally, it is imperative that E&D lead the way in leveraging this approach to elevate our practices through integration of product design information and analyses. This information forms the basis for a digital thread that drives processes throughout the value stream.This position will be responsible for leading a wide range of projects spanning internal and external customers, from early development through adoption, across all programs, and that touch multiple areas of the value stream.Specifically, this leader will:· Build and lead a talented, engaged team focused on developing, implementing and standardizing advanced engineering and design practices· Establish standards, procedures and training to support adoption and execution of MBE practices· Lead the vision, development, and implementation of toolsets to enable MBE practices· Standardize delivery of model based engineering data across programs to downstream internal customers, suppliers, and as a deliverable to the Navy· Lead the adoption of Digital Lifecycle Sustainment and MBE practices with the Navy· Manage a very diverse project portfolioAdvanced level of understanding in a specialized field or general understanding of several diverse disciplines. Involves a broad grasp of involved practices and procedures. Responsible for all projects assigned to the organizational unit. Acts as an advisor to subordinate supervisors or staff members to meet schedules or resolve technical or operational problems. Directly participates in establishing and administering many centralized functional projects.
