Radiologic Technologist ILocation: SAN AUGUSTINE, TEXAS, UNITED STATESNew Requisition #: 2020-R0277980Position: Radiologic Technologist I (PRN) - San Augustine Position Summary: Performs complete diagnostic radiography procedures on patients according to the specific departmental procedure protocols under the direction of Medical Director and Director of Imaging Services. Maintains patient safety through attention to detail, equipment safety checks, adherence to department policies, and with effective communication with physicians, staff and patients. Provides patient orientation, procedure explanation, and pre and post diagnostic care to completion of test. Performs complete diagnostic imaging exams inclusive of positioning patient, calibration of equipment, and documentation of findings. Provides emergency care, notifying appropriate personnel and ensures quality and patient safety is maintained. Assists patients with basic patient care needs.Position Responsibilities:

Performs completediagnostic imaging tests on patients according to the specific departmentalprocedure protocols under the direction of the Medical Director.

Prepares equipmentensuring that equipment is operational, safe and functioning according todiagnostic standards. Performs periodic QA and ensures requisitedocumentation.

Problem solves equipmentfailure and contacts Lead Technologist regarding equipmentproblems.

Ensures that dailyequipment and room maintenance are performed before/during/ after eachprocedure, and that special precautions and measures are performed to ensureinfection control standards.

Completes all qualitychecks and ensures that equipment logs are maintained.

Completes all clinicalsupply inventories, ensuring that each diagnostic room is complete with thenecessary supplies required to perform the procedure.

Actively Participateswith patient testing, performing urgent, emergent patient requests, routine andnon-routine requests and OR procedures requiring radiographicsupport.

Demonstrates competencyin the PACS process and performs the daily PACS QA process andrequirements.

Communications withNursing, Physicians, Patient Care Assistants, Laboratory staff, administrativestaff, other diagnostic areas and departments to ensure that the patientsreceive their diagnostic procedures in a smooth, efficient and safemanner.

Performs portableexaminations when applicable at the bedside to ensure patient safety as well asprovide immediate diagnostic testing when needed.

Assists with patientscheduling when required liaising with other departments asneeded.

Ensures that patientorientation, patient preparation (including starting IV’s and drawing labs asnecessary), and patient teaching is provided prior, during and following thetest completion.

Reviews the physicianorder to verify the type of diagnostic exam requested and that the indicationfor the procedure is consistent.

Completes exams in RISsystem for accurate billing. Communicates when corrections are needed.

Provides specificdiagnostic test information to the patient ensuring that the patient is awareof the test involvement.

Obtains necessarywritten consent and understanding for any specificprocedures.

Obtains and documentspatient history according to specific departmental proceduralprotocols.

Completes the diagnosticexamination according to specific departmental procedural protocols.

Obtains assistance withany diagnostic procedures which are not completed, or if there are any patientcare issues.

Responsible formonitoring and recording radiation dose levels.

Supports department-based goals andcontributes to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor andresource to less experienced staff.

Rotates weekend/callresponsibilities in a professional and accountable fashion if applicable.

Provides the requesting physician withpreliminary findings based on diagnostic criteria established for procedure.

Maintains proficiency in ancillaryareas of department, i.e., radiology, front desk, patient transport andprovides support when needed.

Performs duties in accordance withthat of hospital policies and procedures, and regulatory agency guidelines.

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: EducationLevel Graduate of Radiologic Technology Program

from an accredited institution.Licensure/ Certification Licensed as Medical

Radiologic Technologist (MRT) with Texas Medical Board (TMB) &Registered with

American Registry of Radiologic Technologists - ARRT(R) &BLS certification (through an approved

AHA program).Knowledge,Skills, and Abilities Primary Job Focus – Diagnostic RadiologyAlpha/numerical dexterity and handwriting
