Job Description

Receives all parts coming into the building including new parts, cores, returns, etc.: unloads trucks, ensures that correct number of parts are included, checks parts for damage and separates damaged parts for return.

  • Stores parts on shelves in allocated space, and delivers parts to body and repair shops to be used for jobs there, or to be stored in other areas.

  • Enters part numbers and descriptions in computer to update parts inventory.

  • Packages and ships parts to be delivered to customers via UPS, parts being shipped between TCI locations and parts being returned for credit; bands warranty parts on skids for storage or shipping.

  • Responsible for following all safety rules in completing daily work and using equipment, for being alert to any conditions which are unsafe, and for reporting such conditions so they can be corrected.

  • Understands and follows all applicable federal, state and local laws including environmental regulations and safety guidelines to maintain a safe workplace.

  • Assists at front and back parts counters; answer phones, bill parts, make hose, cut exhaust pipes, pull parts, etc. to provide service to customers and technicians.

  • Reads bulletins and keeps abreast of current and new information related to parts, the department and business.

  • Keep parts shelves and parts area neat and organized; clean up outside parts area, and sweep parts area as time permits.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • 3-5 years of experience in a Trucking/Automotive Parts Department preferred

  • Experience with computer inventory systems

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively and present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, insurance representatives and other employees.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Valid driver’s license.
  • CDL- minimum of a Class B with air brake endorsement or be willing and able to obtain within3 months of employment.
  • Clean MVR.
