May work with commercial or industrial designers to refine product designs to increase productivity and decrease costs.less thanbr> ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Other duties may be assigned:less thanbr> Identify opportunities or implement changes to improve products or reduce costs using knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, weld processes, quality control standards, or product design, powder coating, materials and parts.less thanbr> Troubleshoot new or existing product problems involving designs, materials, or processes. Provide technical expertise or support related to manufacturing.less thanbr> Confer with engineers or other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, or provide technical information.less thanbr> Determine root causes of failures using statistical methods and recommend changes in designs, tolerances, or processing methods.less thanbr> Perform nonconforming material analysis and create NCM reports. Work with Quality Control on reducing the NCMRs.less thanbr> Plan and establish sequence of operations to fabricate, weld, paint, plate parts or products and to achieve maximum efficiency and utilization.less thanbr> Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, or computer-generated reports.less thanbr> Ability to design and set up weld robot cells for maximum efficiency.less thanbr> Update/create documentation for job instructions, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.less thanbr> Ensure safety procedures are followed, work areas are clean and maintained, and the department is following regulatory compliance requirements.less thanbr> Evaluate precision and accuracy of production equipment and engineering drawings to formulate corrective action plan.less thanbr> Recommend design modifications to eliminate inefficiencies within the weld process.less thanbr> Apply continuous improvement methods such as lean manufacturing to enhance manufacturing quality, reliability, or cost-effectiveness.less thanbr> Supervise the work of technicians and other associates as needed.less thanbr> Provide shop floor support and develop welding processes for new products.less thanbr> Guide technical staff engaged in developing materials for specific uses in projected products or devices.less thanbr> Qualifications EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:less thanbr> Bachelor's degree in Welding or Industrial Engineering required or over 2 years of job-related experience in manufacturing and weld engineering.less thanbr> Experience with Lean Manufacturing disciplines.less thanbr> Ability to work to a high degree of accuracy in a broad range of tasks associated with production welding with limited supervision.less thanbr> Knowledge of design techniques, weld tooling, and weld processes involved in the production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.less thanbr> A strong mechanical and metallurgical background with a thorough knowledge of welding is preferred.
