We are currently seeking an experienced Medical Assistant for our dialysis clinic in Anchorage.

The Medical Assistant is responsible to assist the Nurses with delivery of patient care in compliance with clinical policy and procedures and to allow the Nurse to provide the training and nursing care of the dialysis patient.

The primary job duties of this position are: (not all inclusive)

Responsible for patient monthly lab draws, including blood draws, supply prep, printing labels, processing 24-hour collections, shipping specimens, and completing steps in the EMR system.

Responsible for rooming patients, taking vitals, and providing patient needed supplies for clinic visits.

Ensure clinic rooms are kept stocked of all necessary supplies for patient clinic visits and trainings.

Pack labs daily and prepare for shipment.

Prepare new patient handbooks.

Prepare training folders.

Keeps vaccinations up to date on patients and documents in EMR

Initiate telephone calls to patients the day before their supply order is due.

Contact patients to remind them of upcoming appointments and to bring required items for appointments including Procards for treatment review and 24-hour collections for adequacy review.

Carry out remote clinics, including preparation, organization, and patient care.

Phone triage as needed.

Experience and required skills:

- - Previous Medical Assistance experience and NCMA certification required.

- - Current CPR Certification

- - Previous experience as a phlebotomist preferred.

- - Strong interpersonal skills.

- - Leadership and effective communication skills.

- - Capable of working in a dynamic and fast paced environment.

- - Strong computer skills - proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and Electronic Medical Records databases.

- - Ability to travel 1 day per month to Fairbanks, AK (no overnight required)

Physical Job Requirements:

- Frequent long periods of standing, bending, stooping, walking, sitting.

- The ability to lift up to 30 lbs.

- Current driver's license.

- Occasional travel by airplane may be required.

- Flexibility to travel between clinics and patient homes.
