The Payroll Assistant performs payroll duties for the Company. Lynden Air Cargo is a US part 121 all-cargo airline based in Anchorage, Alaska. Lynden Air Cargo conducts operations within Alaska as well as other locations around the world, utilizing its fleet of L382 Hercules aircraft. Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Performs all assigned work in accordance with established policies and procedures as governed by Lynden Air Cargo's Employee Handbook and applicable CFR's.

Works in conjunction with Parent company payroll processor to process payroll prior to transmission to outside payroll service contractor.

Processes employee payroll timekeeping records (e.g., PTO, extended leave and other absences, etc.) and assigns appropriate labor levels as required. Compiles statistics for management's use.

Maintains electronic timekeeping system and may assist in training employees in the use of the system to include creating various system-generated reports for meeting the needs of the Company.

Tracks attendance and leave records for FMLA, management needs, and statistical reporting.

Conducts research and prepares statistical and financial reports for EEO, AAP, and other regulatory agencies as required.

Assists employees, supervisors and managers in the interpretation and application of payroll policies and procedures.

Assists Parent Company in the processing of foreign payroll taxes using employee travel and timekeeping records.

Performs a variety of routine office/clerical duties

Assists employees with completing workers’ compensation claim forms. Files claims with appropriate agencies and performs entry into company accident reporting system. Works with Director of Human Resources to maintain records of all claims.

Assists the distribution of Company ID and airport badges; maintains badge records for Lynden Air Cargo, other Lynden companies, and various contractors requiring building and airport access; secondary LAC contact to Anchorage Airport Badge Office.

Assists in coordinating and executing office events, including charitable events, health and wellness events, employee training programs, employee engagement events and screenings, etc. Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Associate's degree (A. A.) in business or accounting; or one to two years payroll experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred. Previous airline experience preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from employees, customers, vendors, regulatory agencies or members of the business community. Ability to speak clearly and produce quality written communications. Ability to effectively present information to management.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, and volume.

REASONING ABILITIES:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Must have a high level of proficiency and accuracy in all duties (minimum 50 wpm typing skills).

Must be detail-oriented and possess good figure aptitude.

Ability to organize projects, prioritize workflow and complete multiple tasks simultaneously and accurately under tight deadlines.

Must demonstrate ability to exercise independent judgment, initiative and tact in dealing with management, supervisors, staff.

Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and 10-key.

Ability to attain a high level of proficiency in Dayforce HCM program.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to walk; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
