Histology Technologist II

We are currently looking for a Histology Technician for our expanding Histology department. We ae looking for dynamic Histology Technicians who will:

Receive, inspect, validate and label and track samples with computer database

Be highly proficient in daily equipment maintenance and QC

Process daily samples according to written procedures prior to end of day utilizing histology techniques of cryotomy, microtomy, tissue grossing, tissue embedding, routine staining, special staining, immunohistochemistry (IHC) and fluorescence in-situ hybridization (FISH)

Maintain accurate documentation and paper work to provide a sample audit trail. Communicate sample enquiries and issues via email to internal and external clients and work well as a part of a team as well as independently

Saturday rotation 1/5 required

Education/Qualifications:

Must have at least 4 years experience working as a research or histology technician

Must hold a current HT(ASCP) or HTL(ASCP) certification and completed a certified Histotechnologist program. Additional certifications highly desired such as QIHC

OR

Alternatively must hold a Bachelors in Science and have 6 years experience working in a research or hospital environment utilizing daily histology techniques such as sectioning, staining, IHC and FISH

Experience:

Must have at least 5 years experience in FFPE sectioning, wet tissue processing, minor tissue grossing and tissue orientation for embedding. Must be proficient in routine staining, special staining, IHC and FISH techniques for a variety of tissue types.

Must have good computers skills and able to quickly learn and utilize computer software.

Be organized, highly efficient and able to balance documentation 50% of lab work and 50% lab bench time performing histology techniques.

Have excellent verbal and written communication skills and able to work well as part of a team and independently.
