DescriptionWork Days and Expected Hours:Monday-Friday: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM(Additional hours as necessary to meet the objectives of the department).Function: Assumes responsibility for underwriting residential mortgage loans for portfolio, secondary market and mortgage insurance.Duties and Responsibilities:

Approves loans within lending authority adhering to bank and investor guidelines and requirements.

Acts as a back-up to Mortgage Underwriting Manager to review non-conforming loan requests for financing options.

Demonstrates a complete understanding and use of Desktop Underwriter for credit decisions on all loans.

Reviews and analyses DU Findings on all types of loans. This includes restructuring for possible better findings and appropriate pricing.

Acts as primary underwriter for new originator loans, construction and combo loans, and self-employed borrower loan files.

Trains and coaches originators regarding residential mortgage products and underwriting guidelines.

Maintains knowledge of Portfolio, PMI, Fannie Mae and other secondary market underwriting guidelines.

Communicates with originators, borrowers, Realtors, and Attorneys (when necessary) as to status a loan.

Reviews assembled loan packages for submission to outside Investors and assure that all documentation is complete and accurate.

Has a thorough knowledge of loan origination system and related vendor services.

Monitors loan packages forwarded to Investors to ensure timely response.

Reviews and decisions problem appraisals.

Acts as a back-up to monitoring investor pricing daily. Determines new pricing when necessary.

Assists with preparation and conducts mortgage lending training seminars for individuals and groups.

Cross-sells other bank products and services.

Maintains a good working relationship with all bank employees. Demonstrates the ability to work independently. Works as a team player to contribute to the success of the department and in turn the organization.

Physical Demands60% of the day is spent operating a keypad device. 5% of the day is spent operating electronic equipment and 5% of the day is spent operating office equipment. The primary parts of the body involved in performing these tasks are fingers, thumbs, hands, wrists, elbows and upper torso. This job requires a cycle of body movements which are moderate in speed. Bending and twisting occurs at a moderate speed. Standing is required one hour per day. Sittings is required six hours per day. Walking is required 30 minutes per day. Requires the use of manual dexterity skills for typing and data entry up to 40% of the business day. Specific vision requirements include close vision of 18”-20” for computer work. 1-2 year: The job requires one to two years of general experience. Two to five years specialized experience is necessary to perform this job.
