DESCRIPTION Job summaryAmazon Games is seeking a highly talented and motivated Software Development Manager to join our Live Operations team. In this role, you will partner with 1P/2P/3P developers, internal development teams and AWS Security to help bring amazing properties through launch and beyond for Amazon Game Studios.Amazon is all-in on games, and our mission is to be the most customer-obsessed company in the industry. At Amazon Games, we're creating compelling games like New World, a sandbox MMO set on a supernatural continent in the 17th century and other unannounced projects. Amazon Games is also delivering great game benefits to Prime members each month via Twitch Prime, and providing game developers of all sizes with the tools they need to succeed with Amazon Games.The ideal candidate for this role will have great communication and prioritization skills with a clear focus on providing the best possible customer experience. They will have the ability to be self-directed, while still providing excellent service to partners.Key job responsibilities

  • Identify, hire and build world-class teams of Software Engineers to define, drive and execute on the AGS vision.
  • Initiate processes that allow these teams to collaborate with local as well as global teams with a high degree of efficiency.
  • Develop teams of highly motivated and talented individuals that can collaborate with Project Managers, Product Managers and Software Engineers across the company.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • 7+ years of relevant engineering experience
  • 3+ years of people management experience, managing engineers
  • 2+ years of game development experience
  • Experience in partnering with product and program management teams
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of technical education and work experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 10+ years of relevant engineering experience
  • 6+ years of people management experience, including managing managers and senior software engineers
  • 2+ years of game development experience
  • Software development background including design patterns, data structures, test driven development.
  • Good analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Software development experience in building web services and highly scalable applications
  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities
  • Good understanding of software development in a team, and a track record of shipping software on time.
  • Exceptional customer relationship skills including the ability to discover the true requirements underlying feature requests, recommend alternative technical and business approaches.
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, testing, and operations
