Local Scrimshaw store is in search of two positions to be filled immediately. What is Scrimshaw? Scrimshaw is the art of engraving on ivory, dating back to the 1800's with the New Bedford whalers. For both positions, full-time or part-time work is available starting immediately and through mid May. When the summer season picks up, full-time work would be expected, but hours are flexible.
Retail experience would be preferred, but willing to train applicants with the right attitude. Because our store displays unique works with a specific history, it is expected that our associates have an interest in learning the history of the craft in order to be able to relay information to potential customers. A background in art or an interest in apprenticing in Scrimshaw a big plus!
Pay for associate starts at $13.50 / hour.
Payment for manager position to be negotiated.
Time and a half offered on Sundays and Holidays.
