JOB TITLE: Communications and Marketing Coordinator

REPORTS TO: Member Services Manager

POSITION SUMMARY: To effectively communicate and market the High West companies and its services through traditional and digital communications media, website development and updates, marketing, events planning, value-added program administration, advertising, and sponsorships to the membership, employees, and general public.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND TASKS:

  • Exhibits excellent member service both externally with members and internally with co-workers (cooperation, timely paperwork, etc.)
  • Assists in maintaining the security of the company’s assets and data from hazards, including physical and cyber.
  • Facilitate strong communications throughout the High West Energy companies.
  • Prepare, edit, and publish various publications and communications.
  • Activities include writing articles, photography, page layout and design, editing material written or submitted, correcting proofs, proofreading, and generally ensuring high quality for the publications.
  • Responsible for High West companies’ websites including updates to material, working with each company and department to provide relative content.
  • Researches, prepares, edits, designs layout, and manages content for the websites and social media.
  • Responsible for event planning for the cooperative which includes but is not limited to annual meeting, open houses, safety events, after-hours activities, and employee events.
  • Coordinates and administers all value-added programs (scholarships, Youth Tour, Co-op Connections Card, Energy Efficiency Rebates, etc.)
  • Prepares/sends news releases on newsworthy items of interest. Creates/places advertisements (radio, television, newspapers, etc.) with local media sources.
  • Serves as the media contact for all general inquiries and is responsible for developing positive relationships with reporters/editors to gain positive media publicity.
  • Develops brochures and flyers as needed.
  • Assists with purchasing giveaways and other promotional items.
  • Markets products and services for all High West companies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

WORKING/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

Work is performed indoors and outdoors and is typically performed throughout the building and grounds standing and bending. The position is required to be able to operate a company passenger vehicle and maintain a valid driver’s license.

To maintain a safe working environment, each High West employee shall:

  • Adhere to the High West Safety Manual and abide by the rules adopted by the Cooperative and applicable governmental regulations.
  • Attend and participate in High West Safety Meetings as assigned.
  • Comply with all NESC, OSHA, DOT, PSC and Federal Motor Carrier regulations.
  • Take responsibility for their own safe work practices and the safety of others.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (IF ANY): Intermittent sitting, standing, stooping, bending, and walking. Lifting objects up to 40 pounds unassisted may occasionally be required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to those who are able to perform the essential duties of the job.

SPECIALIZED SKILLS, ABILITIES AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Basic computer skills with experience in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Suite, desktop publishing software, etc.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with members, employees, and the general public; orally and in written format.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret material used for publication.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments.
  • The incumbent must be able to pass any required drug test, alcohol test, new hire physical examination, and background checks.
  • The incumbent must be able to maintain the confidentiality of any information s/he encounters.

MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT: Tools and equipment could include, but are not limited to:

  • Computer and basic office equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required and 5-10 years of experience is highly recommended.
  • An associate's/bachelor’s degree in communications or marketing is strongly preferred.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Successful performance on pre-employment tests may be required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
