This role is accountable for driving the sales strategy and implementation of emerging and consumer credit payment flows (credit card, co-branded portfolios (new and existing), segment and vertical growth flows, customized card programs, money movement opportunities, new payment innovations, etc.) and other unique solutions that drive payment volume and revenue across our U.S. business in one of Visa’s largest and most complex financial institution clients. This involves the creation and execution of opportunities to drive net new growth across the portfolio of this issuing/acquiring bank while growing the existing portfolio in conjunction with other dedicated business focused Account Executives. The role is responsible for identifying new payment flows in the payments ecosystem and working with teams at Visa and industry partners to deliver solutions, products, platforms, and more. To be effective this individual will liaise with other Visa team members to provide operational and technical support for teams internally and at the client.The individual will work hand in hand with teams in Marketing and Marketing Services, Consumer Product, Finance, Visa Consulting & Analytics, Innovation, Visa Direct, Merchant Services, Co-brand Account Executives, Legal and Contract Administration and others. This individual will lead and manage the development of customized growth solutions, support the development of key contract opportunities driving growth across the client enterprise, manage detailed contract processes and be the lead liaison with the client for budgeting and contract / statement of work / business initiatives. The result of these efforts will be increased strategic value to the client, growing client and Visa revenue, implementation of a market competitive suite of consumer credit product offerings and strengthening executive relationships. The role will report into the Head of Financial Institutions Sales for a large national account.

The ideal candidate is senior sales and business development leader who has worked in the payments ecosystem and maintains executive-level relationships with banking clients. Exposure to card and non-carded flows, marketing best practices, innovation approaches, card product development, and other payment solutions will be key to the success of this individual. This role requires a seasoned executive who can easily evaluate economic tradeoffs across initiatives, who is savvy at drafting RFP responses, is an experienced negotiator, has a comfort driving contractual funding and commitments and using data to drive strategic leadership, innovation, and collaboration internally and externally. Theywill bring prior experience in establishing mutually beneficial partnerships and solution selling, as well as a deep knowledge of payments and related technology. They should be creative and hands-on, have a bias toward action and inspire others with their vision.


  • Support the vision for growth with and for this client by providing thought leadership for Visa focused on developing a suite of consumer credit products that builds upon current client capability and leverages Visa capability for new payment flows, value added services, technical and digital capabilities, and solution development expertise to implement strategies that drive desired growth with this client
  • Must support and help lead a prudent value-based application of contractual Value-In Kind funds and client incentives, ensuring highest and best strategic value for the client and Visa
  • Should identify and support the analysis and monitoring on an ongoing basis of market trends, activities and competitor actions that enable the internal Visa support team to implement pre-emptive strategies and plans for the client
  • Demonstrate leadership in setting payments strategy in association with internal Visa stakeholders and the client executive team, drive agenda with cross functional teams
  • Maintain a partnership with lead Account Executives and other business partners while directly driving and owning the sales and strategy for key solutions
  • Strong focus on execution and deliverables. Proven record of exceeding goals
  • Influence the client’s vision for electronic payments, consistent with Visa’s
  • Continuously review client strategies and market landscapes to recommend, develop, andimplement new approaches that ensures that business objectives are met


Basic Qualifications 12 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 10 years of experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA,JD, MD) or at least 8 years of work experience with a PhDPreferred Qualifications 15-18 + years of extensive business experience with sales, consultative sales and management experience in the payments industry or similar experience in consulting / solution selling Proven ability to create strategic solutions (product/business development, marketing, and/or technology solutions) and implement them to drive top line results Strong financial and commercial acumen, with understanding of risk management and strong analytical/decision making skills. Consistent record of setting and exceeding financial targets Successful negotiation track record to manage complexity and align interest from clients and internal stakeholders. Proven success managing large client relationships Demonstrated ability to play a leading role with C-level clients that enables building deep and trusted client relationships Understanding of payment systems (card networks, Wires, ACH, RTP, digital wallets, money movement, treasury solutions, co-brand development, acquiring solutions, debit, credit, small business). Experience with issuers, networks, processors or key merchant partners Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, globally matrixed environment Natural collaborator, with excellent communication skills and strong executive presence. Must be self-motivated and comfortable with ambiguity, possessing the maturity and competence to influence across multiple levels and organizations including internal and external stakeholders Superior strategic, problem solving and analytical skills, capable of communicating a vision Demonstrated thought leadership and the aptitude to challenge the status quo Bachelor’s Degree and MBA or advanced degree is highly desirable

Travel Requirements:This position requires travel for work up to 35% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.
