Verisk is seeking a

Software Developerto join its Casualty Solutions. The successful candidate will have experience developing software in a team-oriented commercial environment. We are seeking for a strong MS SQL Developer with knowledge in writing stored procedures and experience working in large relational databases. The applications are written using .NET technologies such as C#, Web API, .NET Core, Angular, AWS Lambda. Knowledge in AWS services are a plus. The candidate will be responsible for developing and supporting MS SQL and .NET projects using modern technologies and completing specific client work, projects and miscellaneous tasks while ensuring commitment and quality through to completion. The candidate also will participate in code deployments to several server environments by following change management policies

About the Day to Day Responsibilities of the Role

  • Develop and maintain applications written utilizing MS SQL Server
  • Develop and maintain application using .NET technologies such as C# and Angular, JavaScript/jQuery, CSS, Web API.
  • Designs, develops, documents, tests, and debugs new and existing software applications for customers.
  • Analyze code to determine causes of errors and revise programs as needed.
  • Analyze, diagnose, and resolve errors related to their applications
  • Suggests innovative solutions to business problems/ processes that leverage technology to provide improvements and better user experiences.
  • Ensure the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications
  • Follow all organizational standards and methodologies.
  • Participate in Agile development process
  • Interact and communicate effectively with all levels of staff, senior management, and customers
  • Participate in software design meetings and analyze user needs to determine technical requirements.
  • Perform Code deployment, troubleshooting issues and other server deployment process may involve after hours and weekends.


About You and How You Can Excel in This Role

  • Strong knowledge of MS SQL Server including stored procedures and working with large relational databases.
  • Proficient Knowledge in .NET framework, .NET core, Angular and Web API.
  • Proficient in C# with a good knowledge of their ecosystems.
  • Preferred knowledge in AWS services such as EC2, Lambda, SQS, S3, ECS etc.
  • Knowledge in writing unit test cases such as NUnit, XUnit or MSTest is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented programming.
  • Familiar with various design and architectural patterns.
  • Experience with popular web application frameworks.
  • Experience in developing applications in cloud using serverless technologies.
  • Knack for writing clean, readable, and easily maintainable code.
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as Git.
  • Preferred experience in CI/CD pipeline using Octopus and Bamboo.
  • Knowledge of all phases of the software development life cycle.
  • Knowledge of web architecture and application servers.
  • Knowledge of data and technical database design.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and maintain mid-level to complex applications.
  • Participate in design and technical meetings and provide technical consultation to internal business and design teams as needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce design and technical specifications as needed for technical documentation.
  • Willing to work after hours, weekends and be on the on-call schedule as required to complete production support tasks.
