Job Description

1. RN conducts timely and accurate assessments, initiates appropriate interventions, and communicates plan of care from admission to discharge. (Clinical knowledge, skill and judgment)

2. RN evaluates and anticipates changes in patient condition or disease process (signs/symptoms) to manage and/or prevent emergencies or adverse event. (Clinical competency, critical thinking, clinical judgment)

3. Completes all work in organized and timely manner ensuring that all orders written are carried out within the appropriate time frame.

4. Able to prioritize workload considering patient acuity, activity and resources.

5. RN demonstrates a positive professional attitude as evidenced by respect towards co-workers, physicians, patients, families and ancillary departments.

6. RN demonstrates a willingness to help others and offer help without being asked

7. RN adheres to the current Patient Safety Guidelines, such as proper hand-washing

8. RN demonstrates knowledge and environmental awareness by maintaining clean/unobstructed work area.

9. Communication style (verbal and non-verbal) is professional, courteous, polite, and respectful to all customers.

10. Provides emotional support, shows sensitivity and consideration for others feelings and/or cultural background. Demonstrates good listening skills.

11. Demonstrates advocacy and positive interpersonal skills as it relates to patients, families, colleagues and other departments.

12. Makes clear and logical decisions while using resources appropriately (including self).

13. Role models professional practice with patients, families, visitors and the interdisciplinary team.

14. Participates in unit based and house-wide activities, if applicable.

Qualifications

Required Qualification:

1. Current RN License must be active and unrestricted

2. Current BLS certification required upon hire and maintained

3. Demonstrated experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred

4. Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills

5. Must be patient/customer focused and a team player

6. Proficient computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook)
