The Information Design & Development (IDD) group at Dell Technologies is looking for a taxonomist to lead the taxonomy efforts for IDD and align with Dell Knowledge Management taxonomy initiatives. IDD develops all the technical content to support all Dell products and needs a strategy and approach to apply best practices taxonomies for content, this may involve defining new taxonomies and applying established taxonomies. Stakeholders include IDD content development teams, the ontology governance group, product management groups, taxonomists, ontologists, system owners, business unit stakeholders and IT developers. It is expected that this role will have a heavy communications component including educating others on taxonomies, principles, and standards. This is a position for someone who wants to make a significant impact on a large corporation. As a Taxonomist, this person will fulfill the following taxonomy roles: SME, Advocate, Agreement Facilitator, Project Manager, Educator, and Consultant. Here's what we are looking for with this role:Essential Requirements:

  • 5-8 years' experience working in taxonomy management and governance in a large organization.
  • Proven record of creating taxonomies from business requirements.
  • Experience researching, identifying, and documenting requirements, as well as enforcing standards, agreements, and charters.
  • Understanding of content management and development, as well as search and retrieval tools.
  • Basic understanding of ontologies (mainly semantic).
  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline
Desirable Requirements:
  • Experience with SKOS standards
  • Experience working with Graph databases, ontologies, and Natural Language Processing strategies (NLP) for relevant and robust optimization
  • Experience with structured content and tagging strategies
  • Knowledge of tools like Semantic Web Pool Party, and/or GraphDB Ontotext a plus.
  • Master's degree
