SMS is seeking a Cloud Architect to join our team on our Army project. This position will work closely to provide the US Army and select partners with Advisory and Assistance Services (A&AS) and Engineering Services aid with cyber, system engineering, and planning services to develop policy, procedures, and processes that support the Army’s Digital Transformation with specific emphasis developing/implementing cloud environments, application migration management/tracking, cloud account management, and Operations and Sustainment of cloud environments along with developing benchmarking, performance monitoring, and metrics. For additional information on SMS, visit www.sms.com.Submit your resume today!The Cloud Architect is responsible for leading the creation of a technology framework and providing technical leadership in support of the ECMO initiatives in cloud computing and automation, with a focus on the design of systems and services that run on cloud platforms. The Cloud Architect will be responsible for ensuring that critical applications are designed and optimized for high availability and disaster recovery. The position requires strong leadership and team-building skills, and must be able to collaborate effectively with a group of high performing individuals.Required Skills and Qualifications:

Demonstrate knowledge of cloud architecture and implementation features (OS, multi-tenancy, virtualization, orchestration, elastic scalability)

Demonstrate knowledge of DevOps tool chains and processes

Act as a Subject Matter Expert to the organization for cloud end-to-end architecture, including AWS, Azure and future providers, networking, provisioning, and management

Demonstrate leadership ability to back decisions with research and the “why,” and articulate several options, the pros and cons for each, and a recommendation

Maintain overall industry knowledge on latest trends, technology, etc.

Develop solutions architecture and evaluate architectural alternatives for private, public and hybrid cloud models, including IaaS, PaaS, and other cloud services

Contribute to DevOps development activities and complex development tasks

Define optimal design patterns and solutions for high availability and disaster recovery for applications

Drive scope definition, requirements analysis, functional and technical design, application build, product configuration, unit testing, and production deployment

Ensure delivered solutions meet/perform to technical and functional/non-functional requirements

Provide technical expertise and ownership in the diagnosis and resolution of an issue, including the determination and provision of workaround solution or escalation to service owners

Ensure delivered solutions are realized in time frame committed; work in conjunction with project sponsors to size and manage scope and risk

Provide support and technical governance, expertise related to cloud architectures, deployment, and operations

Expert-level knowledge to implement real-world cloud solutions in an organization similar in size to the ECMO

Expert-level knowledge of industry accepted standards and best practices related to cloud, architecture, design, and analysis

Ten or more years developing and deploying mission-related IT systems

Five or more years architecture analysis experience

Fifteen or more years system engineering experience

Ten or more years professional experience in Army, DoD, or IC in a related field

Ten or more years IT experience in the DoD or IC

3-5 years implementing commercial cloud solutions

Clearance

Must have a current DoD Secret Clearance

Certifications

AWS or AZURE preferred

Education

Bachelor’s degree in a Engineering/Science field preferred

Experience

10+ years’ experience in Army, DoD, or IC

10+ years’ experience in a related field
