Commodity Management within Materials and Procurement develops and implements plans to support forecasted needs for suppliers or commodities. We use our in-depth knowledge of foreign and domestic markets to negotiate supplier agreements and contracts with optimum pricing and terms. We also harness our understanding of commodity qualities, transportation options, risk management and supply chain evaluation models to develop optimal commodity management strategies.Join us as a Cost Engineer on our team to do the best work of your career and make a profound social impact. Flexibility to work remote.RoleCollaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify opportunities to achieve lowest practical cost for new product and existing products through competitive benchmarking, technology landscaping, value analysis/value engineering best practices, and general 'should-cost' tools with a focus on mechanical parts and assemblies. Responsible for should costing for New Product Introduction and Legacy Dell products. Need to be part of the cost negotiation process and has to influence cost reduction and cost avoidance. Recommend improvements to cost competitiveness and optimize processes and identify cost opportunities.What you'll achieve:You will work on cost drivers, as well as preparing cost analysis related to manufacturing of Dell Radio and Telco products for different lines of business. You will need to understand electronics manufacturing, new product release, production, how many and how much labor, processes, equipment, materials will be invested for product build, and other intangible costs such as holding cost, ordering cost, carry cost, etc. You will support cross-functional teams and processes. Additionally, you'll collaborate with multiple areas of the organization to analyze and monitor cost savings opportunities. Extensive contact with internal and external customers is required to obtain, clarify or provide facts and information. Provide comprehensive solutions to complex problems. You will be act as a support team in establishing and implementing strategies for negotiating supplier agreements based on in-depth knowledge of foreign and domestic markets for optimum pricing and terms.Essential requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics and 5+ years of SMT, PCBA, Box-build or Final Assembly processes for a Tech company and/or relevant cost experience
  • 3 years of experience working in design or manufacturing of Telco/Radio products
  • Working knowledge of Should Cost Modeling Drivers
  • Proven experience collaborating across departments, analytical and communication skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Strong customer service skills and experience
Desirable skills:
  • Minor in RF or Electric Machinery
  • Previous experience working for an ODM or a CM.
  • Experience working on MVA quotes or analysis associated with equipment, labor, utilities, indirect materials, depreciation, etc.
  • Operational knowledge; experience working with cost drivers such as SG&A, labor, equipment, depreciation, NRE, materials, etc.
  • Project management skills
  • Experience in Data analytics and data transformation
