For the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), GDIT provides enterprise IT services for DHS’s biometric identity management system (IDENT) and the Office of Biometric Identity Management (OBIM) to store, match, share, and analyze biometric and biographic data in support of DHS’s strategic mission. GDIT’s O&M services support break-fix of current OBIM functional capabilities, as well as security remediation activities and developmental engineering (such as prototyping new code or configurations of OBIM functionality). At the most critical moments of change, we’re there - bringing the resources, solutions, and expertise to help our clients take on some of the world’s biggest challenges - and GDIT is excited to offer you a unique opportunity to join a best performing O&M team supporting one our nation’s most critical national security, law enforcement, immigration and border management, and intelligence missions.GDIT is looking for an IT Infrastructure Senior Systems Engineer to serve on the Infrastructure team for this large, complex task order. The successful candidate will have the knowledge and ability to navigate within an AIX/Linux environment; possess a demonstrated ability to work with application owners to formulate, troubleshoot, and document application installations, configurations, and operations; and be able to analyze alerts from various monitoring tools and take appropriate actions during troubleshooting phases. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to: Maintain the health of the development server infrastructure Ensure correct installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of the AIX and RHEL infrastructure Administer, install, and, upgrade AIX and RHEL operating systems on both physical and virtual infrastructure Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOP); develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures; and contribute to and maintain system standards, policies, and procedures Monitor production systems; diagnose and remediate any impacting issues Install new/rebuild existing servers and configuration hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standard and project/operational requirements Research, recommend, and implement automation approaches for system administration tasks where possible Prepare and present (in both oral and written form) relevant information on highly technical matters in a clear, accurate, and precise manner for technical and non-technical audiences Create reports as required required by the clientRequired Skills / Qualifications: U.S. Citizenship DHS HQ EOD required to start; must be able to obtain DHS HQ Final Suitability Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of related experience Strong Systems engineering and/or administration experience with IBM AIX and RHEL operating systems Experience with shell scripts and PowerShell commands Experience with automation tools such as Ansible Tower Working experience with vSphere systems administration and support including VMotion, HA, vCenter, storage migrationsDesired Skills / Qualifications: 15+ yrs of relevant experience Masters degree in computer engineering, computer science, information systems, or related field of study Experience with AWS GovCloud Experience installing new/rebuilding existing servers and configuration hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standard and project/operational requirements Experience with vSphere problem determination, capacity planning, and root cause analysis Working experience with vSphere Thin Provisioning, Resource Pools, Host Profiles, and 3rd party plug-ins Experience in designing and architecting new infrastructure solutions including Component Equipment List (CEL), System Design Document (SDD), and other design artifacts Experience with large scale, enterprise IT O&M, technologies, and programs and with best practices/standards for ensuring highly available, robust, stable, consistent, and secure enterprise environments Strong understanding of large-scale DevOps and implementation experience with automation solutions across a variety of applications and systemsCOVID-19 Vaccination: GDIT does not have a vaccination mandate applicable to all employees.
