Job Description

Ecologist will have many opportunities to assist or lead environmental fieldwork and reporting with an emphasis on transportation projects. Depending on level of experience, intensive training will be required and paid for along with mentoring in the field and increasing responsibilities. Types of tasks will include ecology field surveys, reports, permit applications, and erosion control field inspections. The ideal candidate will have complementary skills tobalance fieldwork and technical analysis withother team roles such as stakeholder/agency coordination, writing, public involvement support, and our firm's own community outreach efforts. Your focus will be on ecosystem interactions with our transportation and community development projects: wetlands, streams, habitat, endangered species, coastal resources, erosion control, and any particular specialty or ecological interest you bring to our team.

Currently, our primary sector is transportation projects; our business plan includes growth in energy and sustainable development. Most projects are located in GA with some overnight travel required for fieldwork and agency/public meetings. Other projects are anticipatedin other target states,providing short-term travel opportunities for ecology.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of bachelor's degree in ecology, environmental science, biology, or directly related major with an emphasis on the southeastern U.S.
  • Complementary master'sdegree also could add value to our team with topics such as planning, GIS, forestry/botany, or natural systems.
  • Ecology experience, ideally with GDOT.
  • Proficiency with ArcGIS software.
  • Experience of2-7 yearsconducting wetland or habitat fieldwork for linear/transportation projects would be a plus for our opportunities.
  • Strongest candidates will show great teamwork, rapport with our staff, and communication skills.
  • As we share and combine many creative talents, yourexperience in other areas also will be valued (such as environmental impact assessment, mapping, research, public involvement).
