Duties

  • Assists the Chief of Resources Management in the preparation, review, public involvement, and review process for assigned compliance documents and park project actions
  • Conducts environmental impact analyses and uses appropriate knowledge and processes to analyze and interpret project plans and data to determine impacts to cultural and natural resources.
  • Assists the Chief of Resources Management in developing park planning documentation and modifications to existing plans such as climbing management plan, resources stewardship plan, etc.
  • Utilizes computer hardware and software to complete necessary compliance steps to obtain public and external agency input on park projects and plans that require complex NEPA and NHPA compliance

  • You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided.
  • You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work.
  • You may be required to travel overnight away from home up to 2 nights per month. You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes.
  • You may be required to complete training and obtain/maintain a government charge card with travel and/or purchase authority.Applicants must be at least (1)18 years old or (2) at least 16 years old and: (a) Have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school; or (b) Have completed a formal vocational training program; or (c) Have received a statement from school authorities agreeing with their preference for employment rather than continuing their education; or (d) Be currently enrolled in a secondary school and either work only during school vacation periods or work part-time during the school year under a formal student employment program.

To qualify for this position at the GS-09 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:

EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-7 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: determining and preparing necessary environmental analysis; monitoring new construction and inspecting

production documents; reviewing documents/analyzing facts for compliance relating to natural and/or cultural resources or similar. You must include hours per week worked.

EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or juris doctor (J.D.) degree that is directly related to the work of the position, which demonstrates possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed

in environmental assessment and resource conservation to do the work of this position. You must include transcripts.

Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. You must include transcripts.

Physical Demands: Work is primarily sedentary in an office environment, but also requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven or rocky surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities.

Working Conditions: The majority of the work is performed in an office setting with some travel to attend meetings, conferences and workshops, or for field inspections. The work can involve moderate risks, discomforts, and unpleasantness such as exposure to dust and cold or hot and dry weather extremes and flights in small aircraft, including helicopters.
