Overview:

The Registered Polysomnographic Lead Technologist performs the duties and functions of the Registered Polysomnographic Technologist, in addition to providing leadership and technical assistance to other Registered and Non-Registered Polysomnographic Technologists. Work duties include insuring high quality PSG recordings are being obtained during the nightshift, and that shift work assignments are being satisfactorily completed. The RPSGT Lead Technologist oversees and coordinates the training and education of new technologists during the nightshift, and insures quality control and CQI functions are being appropriately completed and documented on an ongoing basis. This position is also required to coordinate and oversee customer service initiatives. This position requires performance of job functions and responsibilities extending beyond the Registered PSG Technologist position, as described in detail in the attached Specific Job Duties and Responsibilities section.Performs job related duties as assigned. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.


Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Licensure: American Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists Registry.
  • Experience: Minimum of (1) year FTE sleep lab experience as a Registered PSG Technologist.
  • Certifications: Current BLS or obtain within 90 days
  • Other: Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
    • Must exhibit technical skills and knowledge representative of training and experience required by qualifying for, and successfully completing the Polysomnographic Technologist registry, plus advanced technical skills and capabilities representative of commendable performance achieved working a minimum of (1) year as a full time PSG Registered Technologist.
    • The ability to deal with, and assist others to deal with, severely ill patients is required.
    • Responsible for obtaining high quality standard as well as special procedure polysomnographic recordings, along withreviewing and assisting other nightshift technicians/ technologists to similarly achieve such.
    • Must be able to serve as a resource technologist to other registered and nonregistered techs, including providing leadership in resolving technical and practical application problems, performing training and education functions, insuring nightshift work tasks get completed in an effective and timely manner, and incorporate good people skills in all work interactions.
    • Ability to effectively and constructively work with the Department Director, the Medical Director, and the Sleep Lab Coordinator, is required.
    • Adherence to, and contributions to departmental quality control and CQI activities is required. CPR certification is required.
  • Working Conditions, Mental and Physical Requirements:
    • Required to provide call coverage on a scheduled basis.
    • May be intermittently required to perform procedures on weekends and holidays.
    • May also be required to work on alternate shifts, in order to perform daytime multiple sleep latency tests, etc.
  • Equipment Used: Sleep Disorders Centers lab instrumentation and system computers.
