Manager, Software Engineering IIManagement - Non-SalesUS - Remote No Office LocationMAN-22-00136DescriptionManages a team of Developers, Quality Assurance Specialists and/or Database Administrators. Develops their staff to meet department strategic resource needs. Oversees the software development, testing and/or database administration of assigned products / applications. Coordinates activities of multiple projects within Enterprise Development and oversees the activities of Enterprise Development Project Leads.Manages a team of Developers, Quality Assurance Specialists and/or Database Administrators. Develops their staff to meet the strategic resource needs of the Information Technology department. Participates in the interview and hiring process. Prepares and administers annual reviews and development plans, makes promotion and salary recommendations. Responsible for personnel planning and the allocation of team members to meet Enterprise Development project needs. Identifies and mentors future leaders / managers for company growth. Manages, mentors, or provides consultation to other Systems Development Managers to aid in their development.

Actively participates with Product Management group and business unit to set direction of assigned products. Oversees software development, testing and/or database administration of assigned products and applications. Coordinates the project activities and monitors the progress of multiple Enterprise Development projects to meet business objectives. Independently leads our most critical and visible projects. Acts as a focal point to facilitate inter-project communication within the department.

Oversees the leadership activities of assigned Project Leads to meet department business needs. Mentors Project Leads and ensures Project Lead compliance with Enterprise Development standards and procedures. Participates with Project Leads to ensure that task definition, task estimates, duration, and project schedules are developed in order to meet objectives. Mitigates issues affecting project schedules. Provides input to annual reviews of project leads and project team members.

Demonstrates a broader set of leadership skills outside of specific job responsibilities. Participates in setting the strategic direction of Enterprise Development and represents the department in enterprise-wide initiatives to achieve IT goals. Builds relationships with other IT departments and business units and mitigates conflict to facilitate inter-department communication and project progress in order to meet business objectives. Acts as a catalyst for change to improve applications or processes which benefit IT and/or the business unit.

Communicates at any management level to represent the department. Senior development liaison to other IT departments and business unit. Participates in high-level discussions related to Paychex products, applications, and processes. Demonstrates application knowledge and understands functionality of applications outside their area of expertise to identify potential impacts and make recommendations to minimize the impacts. Responds to questions from other IT departments and business units and coordinates resolution of critical issues to provide support for production applications.

RequirementsBachelor's Degree in Computer related discipline - Preferred

9 years of experience in Related field or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
