Telecommunications Field Technician
Field technician required to install and maintain Voice Over IP, digital, analog and PBX systems for new and existing customers throughout NYC. Technician will be required to keep track of all work using ticketing system. Tecnician will need to contact customers to confirm appointments and to provide status updates for service work or requested changes. Tecnician will require knowledge of:
how to install and troubleshoot digital, analog & VOIP phones
how to troubleshoot LAN and IP networks and devices
how to use a variety of remote desktop software platforms in order to facilitate troubleshooting and change
work
how to install and troubleshoot door boxes, door opening controller units and paging systems
basics of planning, installing and troubleshooting networks
how to plan, install and troubleshoot cable installation and terminations
understanding floor plans
The Service Technician will provide remote and on-site service:
This position is accountable for:
Provides technical support to customers to resolve issues regarding software and hardware and will be capable of fully supporting all computer related issues.
Responds to, evaluates and prioritizes assigned service orders, for assistance with hardware, software, networking, customer service and other computer-related technologies. Performs reactive/proactive Preventive Maintenance as assigned
Interviews customers to gather information about problem and leads user through diagnostic procedures to determine source of error or cause of problem.
Must be flexible and able to work two (2) days on demand or as needed per week.
Able to travel to sites in New York city and surrounding counties
Qualifications or Requirements
A+ and Network+ Certification required
Telecommunications services
Apple certification preferred
Experience working with Windows and Apple Networks or as a Network Administrator.
Experience working VOIP phone system networks
Experience installing CAT5e, 6 cables, coax, riser cable, etc.
Strong ability to troubleshoot hardware and software problems in a logical manner.
Requires at least 2 years of experience in the field or in as an IT Specialist.
Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
Excellent verbal and written customer service, telephone, troubleshooting and communication skills.
Driving requirements dictate that the candidate possess a working vehicle, maintain a valid driver license and be at least 21 years old.
