Find your future with us.The Boeing Company is currently seeking an Experienced Software Product Owner (Level 3) to join the F/A-18 software team located in Berkeley, MO. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization. We develop innovative sensors and mission systems, high bandwidth communication systems, large-scale simulation systems, space and satellite systems, airplane and weapons flight controls, cyber security solutions and much more.The F/A-18 program is seeking a highly talented, motivated, and creative product owner that can focus on software development execution to engineer new solutions and support existing capabilities of an agile software development (Service Oriented Architecture, Containerization, DevSecOps). In this role, you will be part of a multi-disciplined team of engineers that take pride in developing, integrating, testing and delivering innovative software solutions for a variety of challenging customer needs. You will play a key strategic role on our F/A-18 Digital Targeting Network Processor (DTP-NN) Software Development Team in the planning and execution throughout the life cycle of the product. In addition, you will have the unique opportunity to work on real-time embedded software for one of the most sophisticated military aircraft in the world.Candidate must possess excellent communications skills and must facilitate communication with various experts who have deep technical understanding of F/A-18 mission systems. Candidate must be capable of gaining sufficient technical understanding of the scrum team's assigned work to provide clear written and verbal guidance to the scrum teams.The candidate will lead a group of diverse engineers in developing the brand new DTP-N system for F/A-18 and EA-18G aircraft. Candidate must be able to span organizational silos and ensure all teams are operating in lock-step with one another. Must be able to implement a sense of urgency amongst the teams.Position Responsibilities:
- Lead cross functional team to develop DTP-N capabilities
- Plan and prioritize product feature backlog and development for the product
- Working with the product manager to develop and maintain detailed plans and schedules for the team
- Working with the product manager to break down epics into features and features into stories in addition to supporting PI planning within the Scaled Agile framework (SAFe)
- Assist with leading/planning software development tasks including detailed software design, coding, and testing of customer desired features/user stories, ensuring successful achievement of acceptance criteria
- Ensuring collaboration amongst teams towards common goals and schedules
- Identifying technical issues early and removing any technical roadblocks to team progress
- Assist with analyzing high level customer requirements and deriving lower level functional requirements
- Reporting progress to leadership
- Works under general direction
- Ability to obtain secret US Security clearance (Post-Start)
- Currently possess a Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
- Experience with agile development methodologies
- Experience in an avionics, electrical, and/or a mission systems role
- Combined software development, integration & test experience and/or mission systems experience
- Experience in Mission Systems software architecture, development and/or real-time embedded operating systems
- Experience with DTP / DTP-N systems, Phantom Fusion, F/A-18 Mission systems
- Prior working knowledge or experience with Service Oriented Architecture, Microservices, and Containers
- Prior experience developing software in C
- Experience working on Linux, VxWorks, and/or Windows platforms
- Experience leading technical teams
- Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience)
- In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard
