We are hiring a dedicated maintenance worker to join our property management AND rehab team in Jackson MS.

You will perform any basic repairs or preventative maintenance when required. To do well in this role you should have previous experience in maintenance, be highly skilled with various hand and power tools, and be able to repair manuals.

Maintenance Worker Responsibilities:

Performing preventative maintenance.

Handling basic repairs and maintenance for tenants.

Overseeing contractors when professional repairs are necessary.

Diagnosing mechanical issues and correcting them.

Estimating repair/remodeling costs for scouting/acquisition team

Maintenance Worker Requirements:

Proven maintenance experience.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Related degree from a technical college.

Skilled in the use of hand and power tools.

Ability to take apart machines, equipment, or devices to remove and replace defective parts.

Ability to check blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs as necessary.

Ability to use common tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches.

Experience with precision measuring instruments or electronic testing devices.

Experience performing routine maintenance.

Strong organizational and follow up skills.

Eye for detail.

Professional presentation and attitude.

Ability to maintain focus while working individually.

Strong time management skills.

Below are skills we seek in a maintenance technician. Though not a definitive list, it should help maintenance technicians identify the skills they need to further develop in order to land a job working in with our team, and hit the ground running from day one.

- Plumbing: includes the repair, replacement or installation of faucets, pipes, hot water tanks, toilets, garbage disposals, dishwashers, water-dispensing refrigerators, and washing machines.

- Electrical: includes the repair, replacement or installation of power switches, fuses, wall sockets, ceiling lights, ceiling fans, climate control systems, and garage doors openers.

- Drywall repair: includes filling in small holes caused by nails and minor dings from normal wear and tear–most commonly performed between the time a tenant vacates a unit and a new renter assumes occupancy.

- Painting: includes minor touch-ups following damage repair and new coats of paint applied to unit walls between the time a tenant vacates a unit and a new renter assumes occupancy.

- Appliance repair: includes the repair, replacement or installation of major household appliances, such as refrigerators, dishwashers, range ovens, washers and dryers, hot water tanks, and air conditioners.

- Customer service: includes professional, prompt and courteous correspondence with renters when scheduling and providing maintenance services, and with contracted vendors that provide additional facility services.

- Time management: includes maintaining an organized scheduling and tracking system, usually on a computer, to effectively complete all maintenance requests in a timely manner and in the order by which they were received or by level of urgency.
